That opener at Texas next fall is going to be fun.
It's hard to overcome losing that many players in such a short period of time. Makes sense why this season went the way it did. The bigger question (as far as Charlie goes) is why so many transfers and dismissals? Was it him and his staff, or just a bad batch of kids? I'm not asking you that personally, just something that I feel like whomever hires him next would like to know.

By that logic, Bobby Petrino should still be coaching Louisville. 77-35, in his second stint, and fired after his first losing season.

You know Coach Strong, he's a nice person, but he is not a person that relates well with the fan base. Especially the movers and shakers. That's what got him in trouble in Texas.

After the collapse last season, he avoided most of the booster and fan functions. The Bulls Rally, which I was heavily involved with, did not happen last summer because Coach would not or could not attend. That ran for almost 15 years.

I tailgate with several Iron Bulls, the big boy doners, and he did not attend any of their functions, either. He did attend the Block Party in Ybor City, an Alumni Event, but he gave a quick 2-minute speech and high tailed it out of there.

I am not exactly happy about this. More ambivalent than anything. Mike Kelly inherited a mess. I feel for the guy. I feel bad for CCS, too. I have no idea who would or could take this over and turn it around. I did not want them to fire Skip Holtz, either. I think USF would have been fine had they let Holtz fulfill his contract. I feel Charlie would have done the same. Instant gratification. Life rarely works out that way. Everybody is looking for the next sure thing.

Mike Kelly's press conference, this afternoon.

    My takes from the video:

No search firm will be used. It will be a closed process. No list of candidates will be submitted to the media. The next time you see Michael Kelly at the podium discussing the football coach will be when he introduces the next coach. The guy has run 2 Super Bowls and was the COO of the College Football Playoff, so he has some contacts.

He knows players will want to leave and he will support them in that process.

He desires a coach that will engage with the fanbase.

He will listen to all input from donors, colleagues, fans, and former players, but in the end, the hire will be his decision and he will own it.

Great Scott! #USF has found their new head football coach. Confirmed Dabo Swinney addressed Clemson Tigers players yesterday telling them that OC Jeff #Scott is leaving to become USF’s next head coach. Scott will remain with the Clemson Tigers through the playoffs.
    Nothing from USF, yet, though.

Surprised Coach Scott is staying through playoffs. That could be almost mid-January, at least end of December. Seems if he recruits and signs anyone for USF during early period (12/18) that this would be a conflict. I would say collusion but then we would have a Congressional Inquiry lol. Good luck to Coach Scott. Big part of Clemson's success! Go Tigers....and Bulls!!
