    Ara Parseghian dead at 94

Legendary Notre Dame coach Ara Parseghian dies at 94

SOUTH BEND — Legendary Notre Dame coach Ara Parseghian, who led the Fighting Irish for 11 seasons and won national titles in 1966 and 1973, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in South Bend, according to the school. He was 94.

“Notre Dame mourns the loss of a legendary football coach, a beloved member of the Notre Dame family and good man – Ara Parseghian,” University President Father John Jenkins said in a statement. “Among his many accomplishments, we will remember him above all as a teacher, leader and mentor who brought out the very best in his players, on and off the field.

Same here. Hadn't been in coaching since 1974 and had been completely retired since the 1980s.

    RIP, coach.

Grew up watching Ara on ND Sunday morning highlights with Lindsay Nelson and Paul Hornung.

Never have liked Notre Dame. However had a lot of love for Ara when he was a color announcer for ABC and College Football.

Saw an interesting stat that he never lost the Notre Dame/Northwestern game.

He was 4-0 against the Fighting Irish when he was at Northwestern and was 9-0 against the Wildcats when he was at Notre Dame.

Played and coached at "The Cradle Of Coaches"...Miami OH. He was the skipper at Notre Dame in one of its most golden eras. Great mind for the game.
