University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari gave fans a taste of how close they are to the start of the 2012-13 season on Thursday night when he announced on his Twitter account the jersey numbers his Wildcats newcomers will wear this year.
Top-rated recruit Nerlens Noel will take over the No. 3 jersey that Terrence Jones wore in helping Kentucky to a national championship in 2011-12.
Freshman guard Archie Goodwin gets the No. 10 jersey worn last season by Twany Beckham, who will switch to No. 11 this year.
Freshmen Willie Cauley-Stein and Alex Poythress will don Nos. 15 and 22 respectively, neither of which was used last season.
Wright State transfer Julius Mays gets jersey number 34.
Ryan Harrow will retain the No. 12 jersey he was attached to on last season's roster, when he sat out the year after transferring from North Carolina State.
Numbers for the other returning Cats are: Jon Hood (4), Jarrod Polson (5), Sam Malone (13), Brian Long (32) and Kyle Wiltjer (33),
