I mean I get that, but just seemed like a weird way to say it to me.

I’m sure he was trying to be diplomatic and not seem like he was throwing UC under the bus.

Kind of cool being a Murray State guy that Cronin has ascended (even by default) to one of the premier jobs in college basketball.

It is hard to imagine a guy that felt less "Murray" than Mick.

Umm, no. The City is much more fond of every coach that has moved on from Murray State. Not a fan favorite.

One thing I've learned over the last few years. If Murray Bartow is brought on to your staff, you best be looking for a pink slip.

They did it 50 years ago with Sam Gilbert as the sugar daddy. No reason they canít do it again with the right man in place. He provided Wooden with NBA teams in the era before players left school early. Stockpiled enormous talent. The backup center to Walton had a nice career in the NBA but couldnít start for the Bruins.

Just a terrible article in the Sports Xtra insert in the LexHerald today on UCLA's hiring of Mick Cronin. The article gives a blow-by-blow description of the major disappointments/rejections along the journey and how Mick wanted the job so badly he agreed to be a fallback while they pursued other (their description) Tier 2 candidates. The article just seemed to skewer any credibility that he would be bringing to the job. Too many insiders in the program expressing disappointments and revealing too much of the inner workings and on the surface violating any confidentiality candidates might have expected. No wonder numerous top coaches refused to interview for the job. Just bad optics for UCLA.

Good luck, Mick. Wishing you great success.
