He was paying 20k a year in property taxes and association fees in Mt. Lookout I’m sure, but point taken, it doesn’t get much worse than California.

    Where did you get 115%?

It’s obviously more expensive to live in LA, but Mick will be more than okay with the bump in salary. He will still be doing better in that department than he was at UC, and he gets to live in SoCal.

Off the top of my head, but based on a few factual things.

I've looked into moving out to the LA/Anaheim area, when offered work there, and did the research. Once you balance out housing, fuel, and taxes with food and utilities, it came out to a little under double to live out there vs comparably living here in Tampa.

I've been offered jobs in the Cincinnati area, too, and have done the same research. It costs about 20% more to live in the Tampa Bay Area than it does to live in Cincinnati Metro, especially if you live on the Kentucky side of the river.

This hire seems to be getting panned. Not many people are expecting success for Mick and UCLA with him at the helm. I think people are going to be surprised.

The other huge factor not being discussed in here is the PAC-12 stinks. Cronin will win in the PAC-12 even if all he does is mirror his UC teams.

Google search determined...219 Cost of Living Calculator: compare Cincinnati, Ohio to Los Angeles, California
A salary of $2,000,000 in Cincinnati, Ohio should increase to $4,354,911 in Los Angeles, California (assumptions include Homeowner, no Child Care, and Taxes are not considered.)
    Comparison Highlights
    - Overall, Los Angeles, California is 117.7% more expensive than Cincinnati, Ohio
    - Median Home Cost is the biggest factor in the cost of living difference.
    - Median Home Cost is 412% more expensive in Los Angeles.

So if he just increased salary to $4,000,000 a year, that's over $500,000 short of what would be recommended.

    Can someone explain this:

Mick Cronin: "Recruiting is paramount and becomes a little easier when you put four letters on your chest."

It's easier to recruit to UCLA than UC.

Not to change the subject but when you look at those number it makes a bit more sense as to why folks in California think that the federal minimum wage should be much higher. It's just a huge night and day difference in what most people are paid compared to the rest of the country. That's also why I think it's easier to recruit to a place like UCLA. They're pitching a lifestyle as much as anything.

UCLA sells itself, but can Mick get those Hollywood kids to play grind it out defensive minded b-ball?

He was two letter shy in Clifton.
