    St. Mary's 60 Gonzaga 47 (WCC Championship)

    Final.

Gaels really took it to the Zags & punched their ticket.

I guess that overall number 1 seed is gone. Now the question will be will they still be a number one seed?

They lost to Gonzaga by 48 and 15 during the season. But they controlled the tempo in this game and didn’t allow the Zags to run wild. It also helped that Gonzaga couldn’t make a shot from any distance. One guard was like 1-13.

They held a team averaging 94 points a game to 47 points. Unreal

Didn’t expect this with the way that Gonzaga beat them both times that they played during regular season play.

I’m sure they will, but they don’t deserve it.

Watching PTI yesterday, Wilbon predicted this. But, I don't think even he would've anticipated this margin.

Any chance they drop to a #2 seed?

Worse part about the loss is that now they have to sit for a week. Everybody else will be getting another look (or two, or three, etc.). I think a lot will have to do with...

1.) Does Kentucky win the SEC tourney? If so, they are a lock for a #1.
2.) How close is the ACC tourney? A tight Va/UNC or Va/Duke game may get both of them in as #1's.
3.) Does Michigan State win their tourney? Some may say that conference is the best top to bottom, so there's no easy matchups. I think winning that may give the Spartans a big enough push to go past an idle Gonzaga team (assuming the other two points happen).

Of course that's just my opinion.

Gonzaga should drop to the 2 line. UNC, UVA, Duke, UK. That should be the 1 line. Iím not one of those people that would drop Duke based on their play without Zion. I donít really care. If Zion is healthy they are clearly one of the best 4 teams in the country. When you have 64 teams it doesnít really matter anyways. The best 4 teams at the time of the tournament should be the 1 seeds. If Zion is healthy there is no way you can convince me otherwise that Duke isnít one of those 4. The other 3 (UNC, UVA, and UK) go ahead and sharpie them to the one line.

I guess we're assuming UK wins the SEC Tourney?

I believe the Zags will still be a 1 seed. I watched a lot of this one from the beginning and it just seemed to me the Zags didn't really care. All the way to the HC. It's one thing for shots not to fall but they did not give the effort on Defense they usually do either. JMO.
