You have your opinion and I have mine. When early exits from the tourney are more common than him going deep says enough for me.

Well that statement is utterly false...

No doubt he has instilled some toughness in this team.

You guys are insane for still arguing with him. It's getting you nowhere. I can only hope it gets so bad the thread closes down.

You know what I meant. I meant when he has so many early exits (most in NCAA history by any coach ranked 2 or higher) that is all you need to know. With that said, 3 early exits in the last 6 years is not very good.

I'd go for the 2 titles the past 6 years if it meant 3 early exits.

Yeah it's pretty easy to be the coach with the most early round exits when you've been coaching longer than everyone else. Just sort of how that works.

Silly me for actually thinking you meant what you posted...

Guy has 5 titles, 12 Final Four Appearances, and 23 Sweet Sixteen Appearances. That kinda overshadows that he's had 5 early exits in those 37 years.

Where did you come up with only 5 early exits? He has not made it past the sweet 16 15 times, not 5, when his team had a 3 seed or higher and half of them when he was a 2 or 1 seed. That's a lot of early exits for a high seed. 15 times early exit when seeded 3 or higher. 8 times being a 2 seed or higher.

Giving Duke sympathy for having to play South Carolina in Greenville is absurd. Duke is a blue blood, South Carolina is by no means a basketball school or has even been remotely close to a relevant basketball program. Duke's fan base should over power any other fan base they should meet in the first two rounds regardless of the location of the game. Kentucky has majority of the crowd at South Carolina HOME GAMES, it's just foolish to complain about playing South Carolina in South Carolina.

Not sure where I came up with the 5 number. Mea Culpa.

Okay. 15 early exits in 37 seasons.

Thats one "early exit" every three years or so. Closer to 2.5 years, but I rounded up.

5 titles in 37 years is one every 7 years, average.

You're going to sit there and tell me you wouldn't be okay with those numbers if Cal did the same at UK?

I think what ultimately got Duke this season was the lack of a true floor general. Allen just never moved the needle from that post, whether he possessed the necessary skill set or not. Also not sure Duke was ready for how physical South Carolina plays. You could tell a few minutes into the game that Duke didn't want any part of that type of physicality.

What South Carolina did their two days in Greenville was nothing short of fluky. They have been down right abysmal at times on offense, but in the second halves of both games they turned into the Golden State Warriors.

Cal's numbers are better, especially if he wins the title this year. 6 Elite 8's or better in 8 years. With 4 Final Four appearances, 2 Championship game appearances, and 1 Championship?

I'm not complaining at all, I'll take my NIT loss to Robert Morris and round of 32 exit to Indiana and be happy.
