Ole Miss and Andy Kennedy to part ways after season

So I'm assuming a 245-154 record, winningest coach in Ole Miss history, 11 consecutive winning seasons, 9 20-win seasons, two NCAA Touranment appearances and two NIT final fours will get you fired in Oxford.

I'd say the 2 NCAA Tourney appearances in 12 seasons is what did it.

When your going up against Kentucky, Auburn, Florida every year, it's not gonna be easy winning the SEC or making the NCAA tournament.

Slow down. Auburn’s been good for about 2 mins. The SeC until this year has been terrible.

What’s the definition of insanity? I feel like Ole Miss has fielded the same team for 12 consecutive years under Kennedy. Staying at the “just ok” line of power conference schools.

    Way overdue IMO.

Guy made 2 tournament appearances in 12 years. That's just not gonna cut it.

Wonder if they'll try to make a run at Mike White? Can't imagine he'd leave Florida, but he's an Ole Miss guy so...

He will make a fine assistant coach for Kentucky next year!

Seeing many of the others schools land better coaches and watching their programs all get better finally made them make the move.

Really like him while he was at UC, him and Coach Huggins are pretty good friends, wouldn't surprise me if he lands an assistant job there for a year or two, then end up at a smaller conference school.

The SEC usually has more than those 3 teams make it. You don't have to win the SEC to get in. 2 appearances in 12 years is pretty bad.

I'm all for being a creature of the moment, but let's pump our brakes on Auburn being a challenge over the last many years:

    2017: 18-14
    2016: 11-20
    2015: 15-20
    2014: 14-16
    2013: 9-23
    2012: 15-16
    2011: 11-20
    2010: 15-17
    2009: 24-12
    2008: 14-16

I don't really have strong feelings either way regarding Kennedy. I frankly did not realize he was still there. My question is why do you announce this now? Why not wait until the season is over?

Hasn't he had some off court issues? I remember a situation when Ole Miss was visiting Cincinnati a few years back involving a taxi driver or something.

Kennedy will not finish the season. He has stepped down.
