If they can get it together enough to get past NKU, maybe theyíll buy in, but I donít see it. Iím not terribly interested in watching myself. Probably one of those games where Iíve got a book in my hands and the TV on mute.
I fully expect them to lay an egg tomorrow.

How much lower does UL have to sink before it starts its inevitable ascent? The going-through-the-motions routine is not a good look at all. If you're going to play, play hard and play to win.

Cards are understandably over the season and lukewarm on NIT – meanwhile NKU is amped and tweeting about student busses and tickets.... since I follow both sides I’m feeling utterly schizophrenic lol

    Boo March Madness!

Can't really say as I blame them... If they didn't want it, they shouldn't have to play IMO.
I get what you're saying, but it still comes off sounding like "sore losers" to me. Every team gets stuck with a crap season getting them stuck in the NIT every once in a while. Happened to both UC and UK not too terribly long ago, but they both played.

Explain to me how if the players voted no, why is UL in the NIT? Did the athletic department basically put there foot and make them?

It's not about the season on the court. That should be pretty obvious.

Tyra said sometime last week before the ACC tourney that UofL would accept an NIT bid if it came to it.

We all know that this isn't a normal bad season. I'm over it as much as they are and they've had to be at the eye of the storm for a bunch of stuff that they had nothing to do with.

According to the C-J article, the NCAA sends the paperwork in advance, so that you have to answer whether or not you'll accept the bid before you know whether or not you're getting left out of the NCAA tournament. UofL accepted the potential NIT bid almost a full week ago.

I would typically share the same thoughts as you when it comes to playing in the NIT. On one hand the kids are essentially obligated to, since it's not really a democracy, the head coach is the dictator. However I feel like this situation is a little different. With what the UL kids have been through the past couple of years and all of the distractions, they are likely mentally worn out.

I need a few clarifiers before I’ll judge the apparent vote.

First, context is key. The players had a closed door meeting amongst themselves before the ACC tournament. Was it a unanimous “we need to play our guts out because I ain’t playing in the NIT” conversation? I could see that happening.

I don’t believe that they voted. Either raised hand or cast ballot. No way that happened.

Definitely not saying that you're wrong, because I have no idea but that conflicts with the report that UGA players voted not to play in the NIT and they aren't. I guess they filled out the paperwork last week saying they wouldn't accept a bid.

Well that info comes from a C-J quote from Vince Tyra, not from me. Hopefully someone asks for a follow-up and we can figure out this process.
