    The same can be said for college football players but they must be three years removed from their graduating class before they can declare.

    True, although I believe the difference between the necessary physical strength and speed for the NFL is much greater than that for the NBA. JMO.

    I completely agree with that statement. You also don't see red shirts in basketball like you do in football. Again for the same reasons as you stated.
