I agree, this was a horribly called game tonight, but it benefited neither team! Both teams had their Bigs in foul trouble and touch fouls and phantom fouls were called on both ends. If you want to, cry, cry to Calipari for not being able to keep key players beyond 1 year. Carolina just won with probably one of the worse shooting percentage teams in history. It was maturity that finished the game, not the refs! Stop whining, give Carolina their shining moment, and know for damn sure that they are not the only school with questionable academic actions. NCAA title back on Chapel Hill until next year! Come get it!!
Whatever dude. I'm no UK fan. The officiating in this game was atrocious, and you can probably count on one hand and have fingers to spare for all the times I've complained about officiating on this board in the past 14 years.

Pathetic display by the referees. They ruined the championship game, final four, elite eight, sweet 16, round of 32, first round, play-in games, conference tournaments and regular season.

Tonight was no different. Several key calls and/or missed calls in the 2nd half that ultimately handed the win to UNC.

OK Jim. Go back and watch the replay. Tick mark the foul calls to "your opinion". This was a horribly officiated game, I agree. But it did not decide the outcome!

I am glad the refs called fouls the 2nd half. I wish they would call fouls like this every game until teams stopped fouling. You can call 2 or 3 fouls on every trip right now because players are taught to bump, pull, grab, and hold on defense. There is no freedom of movement and that is why the game is so horribly played. The game is about strength now and not about skill and we wonder why kids can't shoot. Watch a shooter moving without the ball and see how many times, he gets checked, held, and grabbed before finally getting the ball.

This is college not the NBA. Players on NBA have the rest of their careers to learn the freedom of movement. In college they have 4 years or less and usually less than that. This whole calling fouls more is not going to make the college game better. By the time they learn they will be gone. We will keep having ugly free throw shooting contest.

North Carolina skirted through this tournament by the grace of benificiary calls in 4 of their 6 games. Yes, they got the benefit of the doubt from the refs in every game but two, which weren't needed in those.

So the 4th foul on Collins ( with 15 to go in half 2 ) , the flagrant on the Polish nightmare ( his 4th with like 8 to go ) , and the OOB non call at the end didnt benefit UNC more than any questionable call against UNC ? I'm interested - go ahead and point out what bad calls went against UNC that comes close to the importance of the 3 above . Two of those 3 took Gonzaga's best bigs out of the game . The third certainly was a game changing call.

The big one i hated was the Flagarant 1 on KArnowski. Like Vern and company kept harping on, that was a play on. Either you caught it or you didnt. Other than that both teams benefited from missed calls by the officials, and Gonzaga flat out blew every opportunity given to them. Only making 3 Fgs 12 minutes into a half isnt going to get it done.

    This.

If you don't want a bad call with under a minute left to "change the game", make a couple more shots earlier on. Geez Louise.

In all of the angst about the Heel being OOB on the tie-up, I don't see anyone losing their mind on the Zags' airball that was given back to them erroneously and subsequently cashed for 3 points. Stuff happens both ways. The game's 2nd half was called differently than the first, and there were missed calls both ways, but it happens.

I watched every second, had zero dog in the deal, and enjoyed it. I also think, by and large, the better team won.

Or the fact that Karnowski fouled Meeks to get the ball out of his hand to get to the player scrambling and being out of bounds. Still feel terrible for Collins. He didn't deserve 2 of the 5 fouls.

I didn't see where anyone commented on the deflected shot taken by the Zags late in the second half. It looked like an air ball, but the refs reversed and gave it to Gonzaga only to show the replay that it was not touched by UNC. It could have been a huge break for the Zags.
