I don't think it's just about trademarks, it's about Louisville being stripped of a title for rules infractions. The NCAA can still keep them from trying to recognize the title on the sly...no matter how they try to do it. NCAA may not say anything but they made UK change a media guide because it referenced a number of wins that were not recognized by the NCAA...so I think they will shoot down any cutesy ideas UofL tries to circumvent this ruling.

We'll see. I'd bet there's another banner up. What are they going to do?

I hate this for the U.L. fans on here, I honestly mean that. I remember how it felt when U.K. was put on tough penalties / sanctions and how that hurt.
At least now U.L. knows what its facing and can put it behind them and move on.

(........ as for the bb program / coach basically running a brothel for players / recruits, what did they expect ? That's blatant and imo the head coach at that time had to have known about it, regardless of what he claimed. Since then his record of honesty hasn't exactly been stellar.)

    Chuck Smrt is a jke.

Suspend them more games, fine them $$$, pull their NCAA membership...there has to be some retribution for flaunting the rules.

Maybe it's just because they're small enough to escape notice, but WKU has a 1971 Final Four banner hanging that has NCAA on it and everything.

That's a vacated banner as well. I'm not certain where the line is with those things.

If that's allowed to be up, I'm definitely not taking it down. "NCAA" and "Final Four" are their things.

Just pointing out that if they decide to stop them they have plenty of options...the bolded was pointing out that there has to be a penalty for flaunting the rules, not that I was searching for one.

Here is an idea. Leave the 'hole' where the banner was forever going forward. That way its not 'there' but its 'there'.

I heard Tyra saying how players will not be able to bring their kids back and show them the banners, etc. But what ever they take down they should just leave the hole and the empty space in place. Let history fill in the blanks.

Can't they just put up banners that say "2013 mens champions" and 2012 mens semi-finalist?

I honestly didn't think the NCAA would take the title, particularly after giving UNC a break. Now that they have hammered UL, what happens when the whole Adidas investigation is finished...?

It seems as though the NCAA will have to hammer every school involved in that as well, otherwise they are more less saying that they are only going to punish schools that they don't consider blue bloods.
