Kansas 79 Kentucky 73

Page 2 of Final terrible second half for the Cats! Should not have lost this one. Kentucky will never get past 2nd round in tournament unless we decide to start ... 107 comments | 3160 Views | Go to page 1 →

Yep. They have a month and a half to figure out how to attack the zone and not just stand around.

I did actually watch this one and was amazed that Kansas was able to come back from double digits down. Being somewhat depleted as they were makes it even more amazing as they did this on the road, against a very good young team.

Overall I think the better team won and it appeared they played a little better team ball.

I hope you are right. I hope to say all the negative is wrong. But what win does this team have on their resume to show they are elite? UNC? Michigan State?

NBA regular season style defense, lousy foul shooting which seems to be an annual thing, and stupid turnovers. What was the rebounding margin? If UK feeds Adabeyo, teams just hack him because he can't cash in from the charity stripe. Frustrating to watch.

Cats won the boards by two or three.

Absolutely right, but he did have the best player on the floor in Jackson and maybe the best 2 in Mason III

I love Cal but I don't love Cal trying to play chess, he's more of a checkers guy.

Can't win your coach can't teach you how to plat defense. I said it at the beginning of the year.

    1. dribble and DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE. Emphasis on the DRIVE! Poor job of finding the gaps in KU's zone. Should have been much better.

    2. Hack a BAM --- may become an opponent strategy in future games if this continues. No reason he shouldn't hit 70% from FT line with his form.

    3. Defensive breakdowns Galore! Yes, they continue. Makes one think that if they haven't figured it out by now, they may never figure it out. No way they win a title unless the defense improves by leaps and bounds.

    4. Who says Kentucky guys cant play here. Good games by Hawk and Willis. Cats lose by 20 without them.

    5. KU was just mentally and physically tougher. Showed more composure. Their experience and maturity paid huge dividends.

    6. Josh Jackson is a beastly creature. Best player on the floor tonight. Fun to watch if you are a non-UK fan.

    7. Self is a HOF'er. Period. Cal has struggled the last two.

    8. When Monk isn't Superman, Cats are at risk of posting an "L" to top-tier teams.

    9. What else can be said-Isaac Humphries is an eighth of a ton of nothing more than a barren wasteland.

    10. Surprised a bit by this one. Figured the numerous distractions surrounding the Jaystalkers would be too much to overcome. Instead, the Cats seemed less poised and more distracted.

    11. Cats staring 3 losses in 4 in the face. At Gators next Saturday.

    12. Fox's shot from long distance looks worse than Kim Jong-il's haircut. Just drive it or dish it. No threes please.

Good news is I only see one more loss on the schedule @Florida. Bad news is that after all these years of Cal's teams facing a 2-3 zone he still has no idea how to coach against it. They just stand around wait for Malik and DeAaron to make a play. Or they force it in to Bam and let 3 guys collapse on him. The 4 out 1 in plan of attack isn't working. They need to run Willis/ Gabriel at the high post. Frustrating beyond belief. But honestly I would still take this team over anyone in the country not named Villanova.

The end of the first half is what lost the game not the horrible 2nd half.

UK has a lot of work to do. At least they aren't peaking too early.
