Either that, or snake it so that the top #1 seed is paired with the worst #2, the best #3, and the worst #4 seed.
Exactly. I would be fine with teams being ranked 1-68 and let them select where they are going. Throw out the stupid regional rule.

Good god that's just dumb how easy that bracket is. Give UK a 4 or 5 seed and that bracket and I'd be elated.

They claim to be putting teams in the West far away from home, but you have Duke playing the first two rounds in Greenville, but then have South Carolina in Sacramento and Gonzaga in Salt Lake City. How can you be in the West region and play on the east coast????? Makes zero sense to me.

    16. Purdue

    2. Villanova
    7. UCLA
    10. Baylor

    3. UNC
    6. Kentucky
    11. Arizona
    14. Butler

    4. Oregon
    5. Gonzaga
    12. West Virginia
    13. Florida State
100% more balanced than what we will get.

    That's not how it works.

There are 16 four-team pods among 8 sites for the 1st and 2nd rounds. The top team in each pod (seeds 1-4) are placed in the pod closest to their location that is still available.

Example: Kentucky and Louisville are both 2 seeds. They would be the top seeds in the 2 Indianapolis pods. Butler is also closest to Indy of the 8 sites. Unfortunately when it gets to Butler, two higher seeded teams are already assigned to Indy, so they're forced to go place them in the next closest pod, which would be Milwaukee in this case.

In the case of Duke, if they're one of the top 3-4 seeds, they'll play in Greenville because only UNC is going to be a higher seeded team that is in close proximity to Greenville.

The 8 pod sites are independent of the regional sites. The #1 seed in each region should theoretically be the closest of the top 4 seeds to the regional site, geographically.

Was it just me or did Joey Brackets appear to be in a rent by the hour motel during last nights feature?

I feel like Duke ALWAYS ends up in the same bracket as Gonzaga.

I hope and pray the south stays that way and that UK is fortunate enough to play Carolina again.
