Jeff Goodman Alleges John Calipari Tried to Get Him Fired
How is this for a WOW! moment? In an interview with Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford today, Jeff Goodman alleged that John Calipari tried to get him fired from one of his reporting jobs. It truly is an amazing accusation and worth a listen:

Nothing I get tired of faster than media-on-media crime.

Awesome. I look forward to many thinly veiled jabs at Goodman during Cal pressers, ala Tipton.

Pretty strong accusation right there. I wonder if he can prove this.

Goodman cooked his goose with these comments. Not sure how CBS can employ someone as a journalist who has admitted bias and unobjectivity. His writing is 1st class trash as it is, but now it's impossible for anyone to take him even remotely serious.

I don't care if a writer has a bias. It's usually evident to a decently-functioning brain.
I don't consider what writers like Goodman, Decourcy, Katz, etc to be critical to my daily existence so if they're biased it's no big deal.
To expect a writer to be unbiased against people he deals with on a regular basis is asinine IMO. It's saying "don't be human."
Goodman doesn't like Cal. So what? He likes Chris Mack so I know I'm not getting a critical piece from him on Mack.
What do these guys actually do that can cause problems when their innate biases come into play? Give opinions?

Nope. I, however, am not a journalist for a credible company that tries to pass me off as unbiased and objective. The guy is incapable of writing anything that doesn't attempt to portray Cal and UK in a negative light, and that's fine, but don't insult your readers and try to claim objectivity.

I guess I don't read a lot of Goodman's stuff. I googled "Jeff Goodman UK" and got the following:
And Calipari has done arguably the most impressive job of his coaching career.
Calipari has proven to critics that he’s more than just a recruiting star and used car salesman. He’s also a master motivator and he can coach a bit, too.
Jeff Goodman on the upcoming Louisville - UK game: "It's a rivalry game. I'm not saying that Louisville's nearly as talented [as UK], I think they're overrated as hell right now. But...I think Louisville's going to be up for this one and I think Rick's a better coach than Cal. Period."
Jeff Goodman says 96' UK Team is not Top 5 All-Time
I know it sounds utterly ridiculous and insane that the top college team in the land could stand toe-to-toe with a bunch of so-called grown men in the NBA, but let's face it: The NBA isn't what is used to be and this Kentucky group is LOADED.
What am I missing in regards to "doesn't portray Cal and UK in a negative light?"

Goodman said today that Cal called "highers ups at Fox" and tried to get him fired and told some stories that were not true.

Goodman told Nerlens that Cal would develop him best for the NBA.

Here's a thought: Don't think of bloggers as journalists. Very few of them pass muster in that department. Anybody can sit at a keyboard and spout off opinions. Few of them actually do the research and talk to the subjects they are commenting on.
Part of the reason why journalism has gotten a bad name in recent years is because the general public can't tell the difference between a hack clown spouting opinions and a legit journalist who does real research. And the TV news channels and talk radio, and to a lesser degree print media outlets, are more than happy to keep that line blurred.

Did you hear the interview he had with Matt Jones? He talked about how he & Cal had a good relationship until one particular season (when Cal was @ Memphis) & there had been several players getting in trouble. He wrote something saying Cal should instill a curfew, crack down, etc. But he said the relationship really went south when he wrote an article on Abdul Gaddy (sp?). According to Goodman, Gaddy, his mother & a few others were adamant that a FedEx higher up (maybe even the CEO) was actively recruiting Gaddy to Memphis. After the article came out, Cal had Derek Kellog (I think that's right) call Goodman & tell him that he wasn't welcome in Memphis anymore. He then stated that Cal had called executives/higher-ups at Fox & tried to get him fired.
