Ja Morant Named OVC Player of the Year

In “least shocking news of the day” Morant is named OVC Player of the Year.

Morant finished the season averaging 24.1 points, 10.3 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Only 10 players in the past 25 years have averaged at least 16 points and 8 assists.

Below is a list of every person in NCAA history that has put up 20+ points and 10+ assists in a season (since assists became a stat):

    Ja Morant

The majority of years he would have probably been a lock to go #1 overall in the draft. However just happens to be going pro with two other studs from Duke in the same year, and one of them being a complete freak athletically with his size.

I haven't watched a lot of college basketball this year and have had bad luck watching some of these top players this year. The one game I watched Morant he was not good. I watched UNC vs. Duke and Zion blows the shoe up. In that game possible lottery pick Coby White was terrible. I feel like I have seen these guys at their absolute worst. I am going to have to make it a point to watch Morant the next time he is on to see what I missed the first time.

Did you watch the Belmont game? He rolled his ankle one minute into the game (a la Zion) and was hobbled with no explosiveness that game or the couple following.

It is generally hard to evaluate players on low-to-mid major teams because of the surrounding parts.

ESPNU Friday night, he’ll be on in the OVC semi-final.

Really hoping Murray can pull off the W Friday night. Planning on taking my 4 year old to the game Saturday if they do.

The problem with the Racers is they have become Morant or bust. They have some ok surrounding pieces, but he is so good, the team relies upon him to create every possession. They now look clueless if he is not on the court. Not to mention they are a horrendous rebounding team outside of Cowart.
