Ja Morant - Murray State PG

Anyone else familiar with Ja Morant at Murray State? The Racers have seemingly done it again in landing a high caliber PG.

I got to see Morant play in person a couple games last year when visiting Murray and you could see the talent. In the first game I attended Morant recorded a triple-double.

This season Morant is off to a tremendous start averaging 27.8 pts, 7.5 rebs, and 9 assts. Best game was a 29/13/12 outing against Missouri State last week. Dude had a triple-double midway through the second half. That is impressive at the collegiate level. He went for 38/9/5 against Alabama on Monday night in a six point loss at Tuscaloosa.

Early projections have him going in the lottery, with the latest mock draft I saw had him at #10. Unfortunately the team is Morant or bust, so if you take the ball out of his hands, the Racers become pedestrian.

Of late, Cameron Payne was drafted as the final selection in the lottery as a Sophomore in 2015, still hanging on in a reserve roll with the Chicago Bulls. Isiah Canaan, drafted at the top of the second round in 2013, was doing his thing last year when he got injured mid-season. He is back with the Suns this year in a reserve roll and doing ok. Since 2009 one of these players have been on the court for Murray State. Really cool

I’ve already put in to have the weekend of the OVC Championship off in anticipation that the Racers make it back again.

Morant is now listed #3 on nbadraft.net's mock projection. As of today he is at 23.3 ppg, 6.8 rbs, and 9.9 assts. He is leading the nation in assists.

That is very cool -- nice pub for the Racers.

Morant dropped 26 points and 18 assists tonight in a 22 point victory at UTM. 18 assists in a college game is stupid.

WOW. Does Murray play on tv any soon? I'd like to see thos guy in action. Obviously he can score, but those assist stats combined with that scoring are just insane.

Saw a video of him dunking on someone that was just nasty. I almost shed a tear for the poor kid he dunked on.

They were debating which of the two Duke guys was the better prospect a couple days ago on ESPN and had Morant at #4.

The networks need to put Murray on a national TV broadcast.

They’ve almost upset Bama and Auburn, but probably won’t be on tv till the OVC Championship
