    No, they shouldn't. Yet, not many teams sub.500 have ever made the NCAA tournament via at large bid. Only a few I can think of. Money makes the world go round in college sports now, though. More "mid-majors" deserve at large births than have been given to them over the last few years. Of course, I hate the term "mid-major" since there is one single division in college basketball: Division 1.

    Syracuse was 9-9 in the ACC 2 years ago and made it to the final 4. So if the committee believes you are one the teams deserving of an at large bid then yeah you should get in even with a bad conference record.
