If Kevin Ollie Left, Would that Damage the UConn Program?

Ollie appears to be getting the look from OKC in the NBA.

If he left, that would be a big shake up and would it decimate the UConn program?

Have to imagine that being on the outside looking in on conference realignment won't help, but the history of the program and the proximity to the massive amounts of talent in NYC will certainly help mitigate that.

I don't think so. It would depend on who they hire to replace Ollie. I think they'd be fine though.

OKC would be stupid to get rid of Scott Brooks though.

Jim Calhoun would help him pack, he'd go back in a minute if he got the chance.

Not sure what the deal was with him leaving but he sure doesn't act like he doesn't want to be there anymore.

You guys are all right. Stupid to fire Brooks, Calhoun still bitter about his 'retirement' would love to be back in charge and there is a great deal of talent in NYC.

Personally, I think Ollie is a good coach and would like for him to leave just because I'm not a fan of the program. I think Calhoun is a jerk and cheer against them every time they play (even UL).

I think sometimes it is best for both partners to go their separate ways. It may be that time for Brooks. And remember, Oklahoma City is very concerned about a free-agent Kevin Durant moving to Washington (or another big market) and the potential for Russell Westbrook to go to LA is there too. By making a move, it might not be so much about losing Brooks as it would be about keeping Durant and/or Westbrook.

The coach won't matter. KD and Russ both love Scott Brooks to death and have publicly stated that multiple times.

And they may prove to be stupid for getting rid of Harbaugh also.

To answer the question, UConn wouldn't be in any trouble just because Ollie left. The guys not exactly an iconic name. Good coach, sure. The first guy you think of when you think of UConn, not even close.

UConn's biggest hurdle is their conference standing. They can't stay put for long without the program losing some ground it would take away to gain back.

As for Ollie himself, he is likely NBA bound at some point (provided his success at UConn is maintained). But, OKC isn't necessarily the place guys would want to flock to right now. Likely to lose Durant, and could lose Westbrook as well.

And it is OKC. Unimaginable to me that they have a major pro franchise. Nothing there, and in the middle of nowhere.
