And please don't take my skepticism as UK hate. I'm not giving Coach K credit for Okafor to be a top 3 pick, for Winslow to be a top 10 pick or for Jones to be a first round pick either. Those dudes are where they are and will be drafted in their draft positions despite playing for Duke/Coach K

Cal also didn't teach Willie how to play offense in 3 years, so there is that...

It's around the same amount Louisville has set aside for bail money.

We quit playing players when Pitino left.

Ask Myles Turner about that. Look at how far his stock has fallen over the past season. Think he might wish he played in a system like UK's where he was surrounded by overwhelmingly talented players and some of his flaws were masked?

CJ Leslie? Jabari Bird? Tony Parker?

Ask some of those guys if they wish they'd have played elsewhere and you'll see that there's a difference. It's selling Cal a bit short to say that he doesn't do anything for them; if nothing else, he protects their status.

He's able to hide their flaws, but I also think he's able to help the players make a bigger name for themselves. Duke and UNC do the same thing. Just look how many times those schools are on national TV. Look how many times UK was on PTI or Around the Horn.

Cal could be a VP of Marketing for a Fortune 100 company (maybe an exaggeration) but he knows a thing or two about branding and his players get full advantage of it. (e.g. see the preseason combine).

Agree to disagree. I refuse to believe that practicing one year with Cal, K or Self has made a majority of their one and done talent exponentially better than what they would have been anyways.

Those dudes you mentioned may have been drafted higher under the Big 3 coaches but their NBA careers won't be defined by their one year in college. Marquis Teague says, "gee thanks, Cal." Andre Dawkins, Lance Thomas and Josh Hairston say, "thanks, K."

Go back a few years and Shabazz was everyone's must have, #1 in his class guy.

Today, there's a huge difference in Shabazz's contract and Nerlens' contract, especially considering such a weak draft class and that Noel was coming off of an injury. In Muhammad's 3rd year, he's still not going to be topping what Noel made in Year 1. There are a lot of 0's after those numbers, so you can do a lot of investing with those if you play it right.

If you only have a few years of earning potential (consider what the average NBA players' shelf life is), then it's even more pronounced.

    That's the #KentuckyEffect , plain and simple.

I think Coach Cal (and Coach K) help increase their draft stock. So I do believe that their first contract can be increased by playing for Coach Cal. The rest are all on the player.
