No way that's a bone bruise with the way his knee twisted and buckled. He's got ligament damage, I'd bet the farm on it.

    Pearl is just scheming.

I am with you. The announcers were stunned that he walked off the court, but even if he tore his ACL, he could still walk. It's that next morning when you truly know you're in trouble.

UK is well prepared for this game. Played Auburn twice, and the Wofford game helped prepare UK for half court 3 point defense. I still have concerns about UK closing out games. Yes, they got it done in the last minute last night, but what about the 5 minutes before that? The Cats should have never let it get to being down 3 points with a minute to go. UK has the guards to match up with Auburn. UK is a very, very tough matchup for Auburn, especially with Okeke out.

Kentucky beat this team by like 30 earlier in the season. I'd give UK the advantage in this one by 10 points.

AT this point that game doesn't mean anything. Gonzaga beat St. Mary by 48 and then lost to them in their conference tournament.

Yep. But my post was meant that I was giving UK the edge because they beat Auburn by 30 or ever how many it was. I think it's gonna hurt Auburn if their best player is done.

Sir Charles ate the last few marshmallows that were left in Auburns box of lucky charms last night. They're due for a bad game and tomorrow will be it. Cats by 12.

Without Okeke I think UK should win. With Okeke I’ve seen absolutely nothing from UK in a month that leads me to believe they can score enough to beat Auburn. It will take 85+ to beat Auburn. Auburn will force UK to play uptempo. UK is more than capable of flipping the switch and get back to playing a better brand of basketball than they have been playing, but I’m not going to sit here and act confident about it happening based on these last 2 games. Because I don’t think Okeke is going to play, I’ll go UK 85 Auburn 81.

Why do you keep harping on 85 points? They’ve beat Auburn twice and haven’t needed 85 either time...

Because Auburn is playing at an entirely different level right now than they were either of the two times UK played them. Is that not obvious to you as well? What am I missing here? Auburn is playing the best basketball in the country right now based on what I’ve seen since the conference tourneys started.

Of course they’re playing really well. But no one they’ve played in that span is anywhere close to the defensive team Kentucky is. Defense matters.

One of the talking heads said on ESPN that the way UK has beaten Auburn twice is they don’t fall into the trap of focusing on guard penetration and kicking back outside to 3 shooters. They keep the shooters covered, allow the penetration from the guard and count on their rim protectors to handle him.

So does offense. If a team is hitting 3’s at the efficiency Auburn has been there is no amount of defense that is going to shut that down completely. I just don’t understand why it’s popular on here to act like I’m being ridiculous for suggesting Wofford and Houston shouldn’t be able to hang within single digits of UK and shouldn’t hold UK to just 62 points. For most of the second half of the game last night, UK made zero effort to run any semblance of an offense. They had the opportunity to put the game away for good and they couldn’t do it. The confidence I have in UK right now stems solely from blind faith, not anything tangible I’ve seen on the court. It’s going to be a shootout tomorrow afternoon. UK is more than talented enough to win a shootout type game, we just haven’t seen them be able to put the ball in the hole at a consistent level this whole tournament.

Because Wofford and Houston are both very good basketball teams that play an “ugly” style. Kentucky is a really good defensive team. You mix those factors together and you end up with ugly low scoring games more often than not.
