I said 4th in 01 not this year.Youwould have moved up a notch to 3rd this year if you could have beaten Hopkins Central.I again say that my opinions are based on observation not comparing scores.I assure you that i could go find 4 scores that would look like yours. It is not all about getting to the state championships but being able to compete once you are there. The AAA champions were decided in the semis the last 2 years.I believe they were decided much earlier in AA this year than the state ch. There are good teams that don't reach the state ch every year and if you started the playoffs over you would have some teams that wouldn't be there.

Why Can't we play each other???

:bounce: In the Western Ky Conference we have an all-star game and have talked about having all-star games in the month of June with other areas of the state. What ever area has a coaches association or think they may be interested in such games should contact our president (Coach Higgins, Trigg Co.) and disucss this possibility. There is a Greater Louisville Coaches Association, a Northern Ky. Coaches Association, a Central Ky. Coaches Association and I'm sure there is a Eastern Ky. Coaches Association. This could be done if they got together and discussed such an event. 3 games with each association rotating annually so that each area could play the other area. Games could be played at one central site so that all football fans could judge for themselves. EVERYONE THINKS THEIR AREA HAS THE BEST FOOTBALL. BOTTOM LINE IS KY FOOTBALL IS GETTING BETTER. WESTERN KY. FOOTBALL IS PRETTY GOOD.

The best in the State is by no means close thats the lousiville area. next i would say central Kentucky(Title Town) they have Boyle, Danville, East, West Jessimine and with that alone they can compete with anyone in the state. I would say that Lex. would be over central if they could pull off big wins in big games. But as We all saw HC couldnt keep up with the pure power of the REBELS. And as someone pointed out in a post a wile back. Prestonsburg 0 BC55 and everyone remembers how the rockets got smacked 2 years in a row by Boyle. as mentioned erlier. After playing the the Hoptown Tigers more people are calling that the state game then that last 2 games vs the Rockets
eastern KY just cant match up

Good Post Toothpick/A little info about WKY

In 44 years of 1A play: Western Ky. teams have won 13 titles and have 10 Runner-up trophies. (Title teams include Mayfield, Russellville, Heath, Cittenden Co., Ft. Campbell, Murray & Trigg Co.)

In 44 years of 2A play: Western Ky. teams have won 13 titles and have 10 runner-up trophies. (Title teams include Caldwell Co., Mayfield, Ft. Campbell, Owensboro, Paducah Tighlman, Hopkinsville and Henderson)

In 44years of 3A play: Western Ky. teams have 2 titles and 9 runner-up trophies. (Title teams are Owensboro and Paducah Tighlman)

In 28 years of 4A play: Western Ky. teams have 2 titles and 3 runner-up trophies. (Title team both times was Christian Co.)

Not counting runner-up teams 13 out of about 30 schools in Western Ky. have won a state championship. How many schools in your area have won a state championship?

Pirategurl, I give Breathitt & Rockcastle some credit. Breathitt can play with anybody and have one of the top passing minds in the game. Rockcastle is very srong upfront and is very sound and well-coached. I saw Prestonsburg on film playing Boyle and it was a big time missmatch. Even appeared to play dirty and gave many cheap shots at the end of the game. I take the six teams you mention vs western top 6, you might win 1or 2.
    Mayfield
    Hoptown
    Paduach
    Henderson
    Bowling Green
    Christian

The 3A champions were decided in the semis the last two years
This is true, because the best team in the state(3A) was playing in and won that game(both times). That does not mean Hopkinsville would have won state if they had won that game.
The only way to know that would be to play the game. I haven't personally seen Hoptown play but from what I know they are primarily a running team, correct? Name the last team to have success running the ball on The Rock!

I can understand how Bengal forms his opinion of the Rock if the only games he has seen them play is the Boyle games. Let's face it, they didn't exactly set the world on fire and their offense looked helpless at times. Rockcastle got to the carpet primarily through controling the los and running the ball down peoples throat. Those two things are VERY hard to do against Boyle. I suggest giving a little more credit to the Rebels instead of bashing the Rock. If Rockcastle was really that overrated there is no way they beat a team like Highlands 45-6(on any field conditions). Hopkinsville had the unenviable task of beating Boyle to REACH the carpet. It's common nature for fans to think they would have won the state if they had beat the eventual winner(in this case Boyle). But I could just as easily claim that Lex Cath was actually the best team in the state and would have beaten whoever if they hadn't stubbed their toe against Highlands. Rockcastle won the games they had to win to reach the carpet and I'm not sure they were the 2nd best team in 3A either but they EARNED the runner up trophy. Perhaps, Bengal, you should spend more time trying to figure out why Hopkinsville WASN'T there instead of why Rockcastle WAS there.
