Your opinion is that the rule is a joke but that dosen't mean that it shouldn't be enforced. Had the Mitchells moved out of Northern Kentucky the chances are there would have been no question that the move was not just one of convenience for athletics.

Did the Mitchell's sell their house when they moved to Ft. Thomas or did they just rent an aparment to establish residence?

HHS can still win the title.
If they win it could still be stripped.
The courts didn't have a time frame on this.
All the games are forfeited except the playoff games, all this and more is back in each page about twice.
oK got ya. If know that the KHSAA is going to make you forfeit then you know if you when the title they are going to strip you in most provability? right?

I'd disagree with your interpretation. While I guess the KHSAA doesn't make public WHY they ruled a certain way, I doubt seriously it has anything to do with whether the new school was in or out of NKY. My guess is that in their opinion, the residency issue was not satisfied. My guess is that if the same issues were at hand and the school was LexCath or Trinity instead of HHS, the ruling would have been the same.

I feel that all the teams in the playoffs that Highlands beat should all have a chance at the title and Highlands should be left out. If you had a kid on any of the teams that Highlands won over and it was his senior year and last game would you feel it was OK for the other team to have a player that wasn't suppose to play.

The KHSAA has to draw a line somewhere and put a stop to all of these transfers.

The kids obviously feel they made a mistake going there. Why can anyone transfer from a public school to a private school at any time and be eligible but the opposite doesn't hold true?

It is called 'due process'...the final ruling comes from the BOC.
Hearing officers recommendations are often overturned, by the BOC.

I agree with you we are all just trying to make sense of all this. Teams like Oldham County who have now won there district game against Highlands should have now had a home playoff game in the first round due to them being the district runnerup. But it sounds like the KHSAA is turning Highlands regular season games into scrimmages or something. Not a one of them mattered.

That's a logistics disaster. When would we have time to do this little mini-playoff? Highlands has played three other teams. The finals are in five days.

Public vs private is totally irrelevant to this debate. If Mike had decided NC was his new school vs HHS, the same ruling would have been made IMO. Nothing in the state's bylaws address public/private.

Does the rule say you have to sell your house?? I really don't know the answer. How can someone say it was a move for athletics? Not me. Can you explain how the KHSAA ruling officer ruled in the Mitchell's favor??

Right. Like the rest of the schools don't matter.

Am I correct that the ruling is not for public records?

They can't if the transfer is for athletic purposes.
