    Default Who is worse?

The oil companies or those who sale the food to the grocery stores we shop in.

Oil was said to be the chief reason for the price of everything else going up. Now oil is way down and still dropping while the price of food along with most other things continue to rise.

    It is hard to say.

Both are similar- they both provide a valuable good to society, employ hundreds of thousands of Americans, and give returns to stockholders, who are usually average Americans.

Part of the problem with food prices is the misguided attempt at pushing corn based ethanol. Corn is used in animal feed and all sorts of other products from ingredients to packaging. Oil made a big difference but Corn made a bigger one.

Making ethanol out of corn isn't remotely effecient. Something like sugar cane would be a much more viable way. But since corn is grown in the 1st world, it wins.

I think there was quite a lag after oil prices went up before the food did as well. Maybe there is a lag on the way back down too.

I hope so, because I was thiking about this very thing in the store today. Dog and cat food is nearly 50% more expensive than it was a few months ago, for example.

According to an article I read somewhere food will not be going down and as soon as the gas prices go up food will increase a large amount again.

Eukanuba dog food has gone up, however not by 50%.
