Default Things to do in Pigeon Forge--------besides eat

Have read on many, many threads all of the best places to eat in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinsburg, what are some of your favorite places, shows, shopping, etc. that you have experienced? Was there a particular show, place to shop that you didn't like? Thanks.

Never did go in for the shows, putt-putt golf, etc. Liked playing golf at the course next to Dollywood. When our children were small we would go to Dollywood late in the afternoon then get in free the next day. When our son was real little there was a cheesy little amusement park called Magic World that was just his speed.

Good day for me was to go to the Smokies visitor center, take a relatively short hike or drive over to Cades Cove. Try to hit an antique mall or two.

Like Papa, when our son was small we did things he liked. We would hit the batting cages and I even bungee jumped with him....never again. We used to hit a place called " The Mine" where you could pan for gems. Now the men hit the golf courses and I go shopping. I like the Oaks Mall and there are several nice shoppes around a pancake house in the middle of Gatlinburg. There is a knife store not far from the interstate that my dad always had to stop at. The last trip that we got to take with my dad, we just drove him around, out in the country and the road over looking Gatlinburg. This is one of the priceless memories I have of all our trips.

Mingo falls is a short hike with a nice waterfall. It is in Cherokee, NC

Take a walk up to clingman's dome. Awesome view.

Cade's cove is a nice drive right before dark. We saw 3 bears, a bunch of deer and a few turkeys.

Go for a drive in the park and follow a stream. Find a turn off and go "rock hopping" like we call it.

FYI....if you are a fly fisher, let me know and I can give you some spots AND I will make you some flies....

PS...for Putt Putt, and if you are going into G'burg....Hillybilly Golf is a classic.
