    Default Playstation 3 Question

Will the PS3 play the PS2 games?

I think to this point only 1 version has had that capability and it is no longer for sale.

I recently purchased a PS3. I asked my brother the same question, he said no.

No PS3 made since the 80 GB has the backwards compatibility, unfortunately.

    I think only 20, 60, and 80 have it. My 40 gig doesn't.

I have an 80 and it won't, I thought the 60gig was the only one that could. I know when I bought my 80 the used 60's were selling for more than a new 80 because of the PS2 compatibility.

I know some 80 gb can, I guess just not all.

The 20 and 60 definitely can, though.

    **Edit**

    From Wikipedia:

All models support software emulation of the original PlayStation, but support for PlayStation 2 backward compatibility has continually diminished with later models and the last model to advertise integrated backward compatibility was the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle.

I'm pretty sure my 80GB can, but honestly I have never even tried it.
