Very sad news. He was the real deal, a great actor and True philanthropist (unlike today's Hollywood pseudo-concerned).

I just saw this on tv. Great actor and Philanthropist. My favorite move he did was The Sting.

Sad news, but I had heard a while back that he was sick, so you figured it was a matter of time.

    Just a wonderful actor.

This is a crusher for me, personally. Not only did I have great admiration for his body of work ('the Verdict' inspired me), but this man put his money where his mouth is, and was a model of marital fidelity.

    The world is lessened today.

I can't do any better then this. The world is, indeed, a little darker today.

I rank him up there with Jack Lemon as an all time best. We will miss Paul Newman.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Awesome movie.

"Who ARE these guys?", says Butch (Newman) to Sundance (Redford) when they can't seem to shake the posse chasing them.

The guy was very underrated as a comic actor. One of my favorite roles was as Reg Dunlop in "Slap Shot."

    "Old Time Hockey!"

I agree on all counts. The world is a little darker without him in it.
