Default NKMSAA Football season start this Thursday who are frontrunners to win the divisions

After watching a few scrimmages I would say the frontrunners for the large schools would be Cov Cath followed by Turkeyfoot and Twenhofel.

Now that Campbell has combined their 2 teams I would think they are a favorite as well.

There is such a large disparity in numbers at the large school level. Cov Cath, Campbell Cty, and Turkeyfoot will be the favorite almost every year, with Twenhofel, Woodland and Summit View having a good te am every now and then. Woodland does have a very good quarterback this year who is just a 7th grader.

When did they combine teams and what will this do to the schedule?

About 2 weeks or so ago, Campbell #2 on the schedule does not exist. Each team that was supposed to play them now has a bye.

Summit View defeats Campbell Co 6-0 in a very close game. SV scored early in the first and held off a late Campbell drive to win the game.

Jake Ohmer had a heck of a game on offense and defense. I know he ran an interception back 85yds or so and recovered a fumble in the endzone for a score..Woodland has a nice team..

I heard that all 4 Kenton County teams this year should be pretty decent.

Cov Cath leading Twenhofel 22-6 at the end of 3 quarters. Game was stopped due to lightning, not sure if it will be a final or if they will resume the game. Cov Cath scored on a blown coverage and a blocked punt otherwise a very hotly contested football game.

This could be an interesting year, as it seems all the large school teams have some pretty good talent. Why the NKYFL insists on holding on to the senior division when most of the talent is playing at the middle schools is beyond me

It gives more kids the opportunity to play football.

I get that...however, they claim to want to be feeder programs to the high schools, but they want to break that chain at the middle school level. They've had to bring in a team from Cincinnati last year (that was kicked out for using kids that were too old) and it's a year to year thing as to whether many teams can even field a senior team. From what I hear, Turkeyfoot scrimmaged the Red Devils (one of the better teams typically) and blew them out. With the middle schools playing a full JV schedule (for most teams) and the uncertainty every year of whether there will be a senior team in many organizations (Taylor Mill will likely never field a senior team, for example), it seems to be more trouble than its worth.

They can claim to be a feeder program, but we all know they're truly not. However, IMO, the worth will always outweigh the trouble when trying to provide all kids with an opportunity. I help run a youth organization, and I'm going through this 'trouble' now. I'll gladly go through this trouble every year to get gets out and playing ball.
