Sometimes I get annoyed with Tom Hanks because his name shows up EVERYWHERE...but dammit...I can't help but like him. Check this out:
This past summer, in an attempt to secure Tom Hanks as a guest on his Nerdist Podcast, Chris Hardwick sent a 1934 Smith Corona to Hanks...a noted typewriter collector. Along with the typewriter, he sent a letter (typed on said typewriter) asking him to be a guest on the show. Within days, Hanks responded with the charming letter seen below, typed on the Corona.
The resulting podcast (featuring Tom Hanks), is unsurprisingly entertaining as all get out. Here is a link to the Podcast's blog summary of the scenario. Here is a link to the actual Podcast.
Intro to SNL tonight is a parody of the Presidential Debates, Tom Hanks shows up in a cameo role, and is very funny. He wasn't hosting, just shows up for one skit. That's why I always forgive him for the money I wasted on "Joe vs. the Volcano."
