Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy

Has anyone else tried this? I think I've found my summer favorite. Pretty refreshing.

Ohhhhh yes and I'm right there with you my friend. It is delicious. My roommate's dad brought some down for tailgating the year before last. I love me some summer shandy.

That's all I drank last summer. It's perfect. Got my first 12 of it last weekend. I'll get my second 12 in about an hour or so.

Funny story. My roommate and I were watching the reds play on tv last summer when a summer shandy commercial came on. We immediately went and bought some because shandy is a combination of our first names. I had never heard of shandy before seeing that commercial. It's a good drink for hot summer days.

Oh yeah, it turned out that it was the closest thing to beer that my then girlfriend would drink. Now she drinks beer like a normal person, and I think it's thanks to the lemonade/beer taste of the shandy.

I didn't think I'd like it but I'm the type who will try anything. Great beer by the pool.

I haven't it tried it yet but may. Tell me about the taste?

Lemonade beer.

It's ok. But definitely not my favorite. Lemonade beer is a very accurate description.

In my book, it's not bad for an every once-in-a-while, "sure, I'll have a bottle of that" kind of beer. There are WAY too many other great beers out there to give it much more attention than that, though.

A shandy, or shandygaff, is beer mixed with citrus-flavored soda, carbonated lemonade, ginger beer, ginger ale, or cider. The proportions of the two ingredients are adjusted to taste, normally half-and-half.

Light taste, good for summer. I agree, not the only one I'll drink, but a nice change when you want to switch it up. Also found another brand, Shock Top. Same idea.

I have enjoyed a few Shandy's in my time, but I can't drink them all night. Taste great to randomly throw one if after a hot days work or when you are outside all day camping/working/poolside.

Different strokes for different folks - Yuck.

Shock Top is basicly Blue Moon in a different bottle.

I'm not a big Leinenkugel fan. I can drink one or two of the Shandy beer but they make a beer called Sunset Wheat that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. It tastes like Fruity Pebbles with a hint of beer. Yuckie...

I made the mistake of trying this before I read the responses. I am with cwf, Yuck!

Isn't fruit in your beer violation of a man rule?

I bought a twelve pack of the Sunset Wheat and I didn't like the first one but it grew on me a bit. It's not a session beer for me.

Well, umm yeah. IMO, if your not trying some of the ales that are gaining popularity you are missing out.

My favorite line concerning beer is from a Bell's Brewery bumper sticker - "If God wanted us to filter our beers, he wouldn't have given us livers."

I have that bumper sticker. Got it at a folk festival they were vending.
