I refuse to drink that Tennessee diarrhea water.

Jack Daniels is like Bourbon's developmentally impaired cousin.

In all seriousness though, I won't drink JD because I have too much pride in my home state. I'll taKe bottom shelf bourbon or Early Times before I drink Jack.
I watched a program on the History Channel about a year ago, and it stated that the only thing that makes Jack Daniels a whiskey instead of a bourbon is the charcoal filtration process they use after aging the whiskey.

Have to keep it real with the Kentucky product and show my Kentucky over Tennessee pride, Jimmy Bean all day.
On another note, don't really drink that much anymore but back in the day I never really liked Jack Daniels at all, just had a sweet little bite to it that I never really enjoyed. Give me some Beam anyday, heck I'd even take some Wild Turk 101 before Jack Daniels.

When I lived in Mexico, we were celebrating New Years. For 4 months I had looked for bourbon, but could only findwhiskeys. FINALLY, I found Bourbon...and it was Beam. Not a fan, still not a fan, but for that one glorious evening Jim and I had a thing goin on. I will always love Jim for that. Jim over Jack

No self respecting Kentuckian should drink that Tennessee rot gut whiskey over the smooth bourbon that comes from your home state.

I prefer Jim over Jack but I'll drink either one...

It's not black and white for me.
If I'm in the mood for a mixer, then it's Jack & Coke. If not, it's Jim. Actually Makers or Buffalo Trace, but if out of those, Jim.

Only drink Jack Daniels if someone bought it for me at a bar or its the Groom's wedding drink. Any bourbon over Jack. As some have said, its not just a matter of Kentucky pride, I just like the taste better.
My cheap is Ancient Age 90 proof.

It's like picking between Don Henley (Jim Beam) and Garth Brooks (Jack Daniels) -- Beam is only slightly more redeemable than JD. But both are wholly awful, and not recommended for human consumption.

To be a bourbon, it has to 1) be made of a grain mixture altleast 51% Corn, 2) distilled to no more than 160 Proof, 3) entered into the barrel at no more than 125 Proof, 4) bottled at no less than 80 Proof, 5) no coloring or flavoring added beyond what the barrel provides, 6) aged in a new, charred Oak barrel, 7) aged for atleast 2 years, 8) and made in the US.
Along with the charcoal filtration (which some will argue does not disqualify as a bourbon, not sure about this one), I do not believe Jack Daniels uses charred barrels.

If you want a better Tennessee Whiskey, go with George Dickel. Not marketed near as well as Jack but tastes better.

Also, Bourbon does not have to be made in KY but 96% is made in KY due to the Lime Stone Water which gives bourbon a better taste.
