Fleas
What is the best way to get rid of them in your house? Also what can be done to help with the itch of the bite? I do not own any pets, neighbors do......

Goldie, do you have plants in the house? If you do, they are going for them and your drains in your sinks and showers. Make sure you change over the water in the sink and shower drains and remove the plants from the house. Maybe put them in the garage but make sure you water them more often if they will be going outside.
If they are coming in on the dogs/pets make sure you bathe them more often.

I am serious. Bites make big sores on me, and itch like crazy. I thought it was a spider bites. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. They don't bother my husband or son. Never thought of fleas as I do not own pets. I have washed all my sheets and blankets in Dawn....was told this would kill them. Also made a spray of Dawn and water and sprayed carpet and all chairs and couches after I swept them really good. I bought a bug bomb that I am going to use tomorrow. You have to leave you house for at least 2 hours.
Any other suggestions or experiences with them?

I'll add that you need to read to make sure that you have enough bombs to cover the space. My house is 1800 sq feet and I needed four. Make sure to remove all food, including salt and pepper shakers!

Dawn is great on pets, not sure about the other ways you used it. The bombs work well also, we had an issue a few years ago when my wife and daughter took in a pregnant cat. The bombs worked well.

Well, for example, we have a 2 bathroom house. We never use the downstairs bath, never. But I noticed a lot of fleas or gnats hovering around there one day. It was because of the water that sits in our drain catch (the bevel under the sink) was never getting changed out.

We had fleas once. We set off two bombs on each floor (including basement). We left the house for the day then cleaned and vacuumed. Worked like a charm.

The bombs work. Just make sure you have enough for the square footage of the house. Also, I'd make sure to be gone basically all day. The longer you wait the more effective they'll be.

I got 6. Going to use 3 down stairs, 2 upstairs and one in the garage. Thanks for the tip on the salt and pepper shakes, I would have forgotten about them.
We have 2 1/2 baths and use all 3 of them all the time. Thanks for the info I will check them.
On the bites I have found if I put clear nail polish on them....they itch less. Still itch, but not as much if I didn't do this.

Goldie, remind me not to sample the poppy seed cakes if I ever come over.

In all seriousness, they're terrible this year. They're outside the house, we have to bomb occasionally but they still get in. The monthly pet applications only seem to last a couple of weeks.
