      Default Another Math problem

      I know what the correct answer is after I looked it up.


      Here it is.....

      4 x 4 + 4 x 4 + 4 - 4 x 4=???????


      I said 320 but I'm a math dummie.

      Apparently 73% of people get this wrong. What say you?

      Nope. I hate math. There should be a law that parentheses should be used when they are supposed to be used. What's the point of having them if they aren't always used.

      You don't need parenthesis in this problem. You just need to know what order to do the math.

      Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction

      In that order.

      The 17 I got in Math on my ACT says I don't have a great chance of getting this right, so I'll refrain from answering. I'm still trying to figure out how many squares are in that stupid picture.

      It is slightly more difficult to do without the parentheses since some of it runs together, but the answer is 20.
