It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I could say that about a lot of stuff I do there.
Karen is one of my least favorites. The only way it could be worse is if it was thrusters instead of wall balls.

    Ouch.

I think the prescribed weight for a male is 20 pounds and 14 for a female. I try to stay just above the prescribed female weight.

    Karen was brutal.

When I saw it pop up I thought, I can do that and for once I can do the prescribed weight. I was dead wrong. I got to 50 and thought I was going to die (a feeling I have often at cross fit). I ran over and quickly exchanged my 20 pound ball for a 16 pound ball and worked my way through the last 100. Painful.

I'm still going strong on the body beast; This morning was shoulders, and the only day that really made me super sore was the leg day.
I've not missed a workout so far, other than the off day the schedule calls for.

No weight lifting for me. I've been running a few days a week and doing push ups and sit ups.

I started running about 6 months ago. Was struggling to run a mile under 9 minutes. I was really out of shape. I'm running my mile in about 7 minutes now. Goal is 6 minutes, but that's going to be tough.

A friend of ours just asked if we'd like her treadmill for free, just have to move it to the house this week. I was talking to my dad about helping me move it, and he said while your at it would you want my weight bench and weights.
We don't really need another bench, but I'm going to take it anyway mainly because I want more weights.

Finally got back in this morning for some light work. Did a few sets of push ups and pull ups, some light dumbbell shoulder presses, some double unders and lots of stretching. Back felt pretty good and actually feels better overall today then it has in 2 1/2 weeks.

Bent over ....I tweak it every now and then and have for the past few years. The muscles in my lower back get tight and spasm. Normally I do it when squating. When it has happened in the past I would go to my chiropractor and he would hook me up an electrotherapy machine to massage the muscles. A few times of that and a week or two off and I was good as new. I did it pretty bad last summer. I would go back to it when i thought I was better only to aggravated it. It flared up in Oct and unfortunately my chiropractor had recently died. I found a new one but he doesn't do electrotherapy. He does adjustment and therapy work to address issues. I took it easy and went to him once a week for most of Oct, Nov, and Dec. Felt better than I have in years. Started adding back in weights and still felt great. 3 Monday's ago I go to the gym, get on the bike for 5 mins to warm up, get off, bend over to pick up my gym bag and feel my back get tight. Got worse as the day went and the spasm got so bad I almost blacked out a couple of times. After two days of it not really getting any better I went to the Ortho. They said it was most likely a bulging or herniated disc, gave me a steroid pack and some muscle relaxers. Said come in a week if it wasn't getting better and they would do an MRI. It did get better but still gets stiff when I sit too long. I scheduled the follow up for a week later (today actually) to see if it would continue to progress. It has feels close to normal today (still a little stiff). I canceled the follow up and will continue to nurse it for another few weeks before thinking about any weights. Hell I'm scared right now to even try an air squat.

Brutal. Getting old sucks. I've got arthritic knees. No fun.

Last night i also broke out my 15lb dumbells and did curls (with my back against the door way) until failure for 4 sets. Did the same with tricep and back excercises. Start my running program tonight as ive signed up for the Bockfest 5K in Cincys Over-The-Rhine neighborhood on Saturday March 4th. Feels awesome to feel so sore
