BBQ is so vague. Is it any food with BBQ sauce on it? Which BBQ sauce? I need a definition of BBQ. I think of BBQ as a way to cook food, not a food itself.

Burnt ends, baby back ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken. If all that is included as BBQ, it isn’t close. If not, I would go with fried chicken.

Fried chicken is always tempting; but, liver and onions win going away for me. Maybe it's because my wife (52 years) refuses to cook it for me, so it is a rare treat when I can get it.

I don't know that it's a "southern" dish, but I love liver and onions. Moyer's winery has a great fried chicken livers recipe - over rice with onions and mushrooms.

Randy probably just forgot to include it on the list.

I feel sorry for all of you that didn't pick biscuits and gravy. It just means you didn't grow up with a mom or dad that could properly fix them...because properly made biscuits and gravy are the ultimate breakfast and comfort food.

Don't come at me with sausage gravy either, the best gravy is made with drippings from pork chops or tenderloin. If all you've had is sausage gravy, then I understand why you picked something else.

    Pre-keto: Biscuits and Gravy

    Post-keto: BBQ

Would never say no to: Fried chicken or chicken and dumplings. Love them both.

    Never: Catfish

When I was a kid, we had gravy, in some form or another, with every meal. Mrs. S keeps that tradition alive, though it may kill me.

She makes the best biscuits I've ever had, anywhere.

I don't think of any of the list as strictly "Southern", My Fried Chicken, Chicken and noodles, biscuits and gravy and catfish are all excellent. My BBQ is ok. I have never lived in the south, unless you count South Florida. My go to southern dish is Shrimp and grits. I try it in any southern location and no matter how the sauce is spiced, I like it. My favorites are low country Carolina, Cajun Louisianna, and Jensen Beach FL breakfast.

LOVE shrimp and grits. First time I ever had it was on vacation in the South Carolina low country and I was hooked.

    Very low carb diet.

I can eat all the meats, green veggies(for the most part), mushrooms, summer squash, a few others that I want. Carbs are kept at a minimum. I typically stay under 40 net carbs a day.

Sounds like no fun at all.
