What has happened to my Frisch's Big Boy?

Never thought Frisch's would ever mess with this all-time favorite burger. It was just delicious and my "go to" everytime I walked through their doors. Now I'm 73 and would bet that I have loved them for at least the last 60 years. The last two months I have ordered one probably three times and found them unedible. Scrawny patties with tasteless buns (was told corporate made a provider change in May) and super dry with one little pickle slice. Threw the buns aside and ate the burger patties only. I am sad to see my favorite spiral into a tastless pile. Probably will give Frisch's few future opps until I hear they have brought the quality back into the Big Boy.

Based on what I see around here it appears Frisch’s best days are behind it. Several restaurants have closed near us in the last couple of years.

The fact that this is in controversial issues is hilarious.

I had a Big Boy last week, and it was as delicious as ever.

I think it is a sign from God that you should have been ordering a Buddy Boy all along. They were, are, and forever shall be yummy!!

The Frisch's near my home, and the one near my office, are both packed all of the time. Their ice remains top shelf, no dust. I know they are trying to bring in more young families, like every other restaurant chain on Earth, but beyond that, I haven't noticed any major changes -- but in fairness, the Big Boy isn't my go-to.

Could just be your local franchisee that made the changes.

I noticed a difference, however I just thought my aging taste buds were failing. Nice to know I may have been right. Could be Frisch's, like a lot of the restaurants, no longer cook things from scratch so to speak. I think things are frozen and then thawed/reheated in microwaves way more than in the past. Just like Cracker Barrel is NOT the Cracker Barrel of the past. Last few times there I can detect that frozen/refrigerated taste in the food. Seems that restaurants like this are cutting corners.

I have eaten at several Frisch's over the past few months and have walked away every time impressed with how much better Frisch's is under the owners. I almost always get a Big Boy and every one has been as good as ever, and better than what I had seen prior to the owner change. From what I have seen, if you are having a problem with quality at your Frisch's, complain to the regional manager or go online. I think the new ownership/management will get it fixed right now.

I feel just the opposite since the Frisch family sold it regarding the restaurants in NKY region. However, I will admit that some Frisch's are better than others. We always stop at the Frisch's in London and really like it. Also Frisch's in Madison Indiana is very good as well.

New owners have remodeled and upgraded facilities. Little tweeks have all been good for me. e.g. I like their new carryout container for fries. The buns on their sandwiches seem much fresher. I had cole slaw with a Big Boy platter, it definitely tasted like it was freshly made and was the best cole slaw at Frisch's in a long time for me. The quality of every thing I have eaten there since the ownership change is better. This review includes food I have eaten from at least 5 different locations in Cincinnati.

Frisch's in New Richmond, Ohio has closed. Way back in the day - before the AA Highway - it was a go-to stop for us on the way to Reds games.

I'm told that the local franchisee was given several years to remodel and wouldn't do it.

And yes, their ice is top-notch.

All I can say is I guess I've been unlucky with the spots I've eaten. But as I noted earlier, I have found some are better than others.

Visited last week in Florence, I stopped ordering Big Boys due to their shrinking size. I ordered a Super Big Boy which is now my go to sandwich. They brought me a regular Big Boy bun with with regular Big Boy patties smashed to a larger diameter to appear larger. I sent it back, they are making it hard for me to keep visiting.

Just curious, I am near 60 and rarely see you people eating there.

Any of the younger crowd like Frisch's?

That would be a major problem.

    We love their breakfast bar.
