    Just finishing this one up. Still have the final chapter to go.

    With the exception of 11-23-63 because I'm a JFK buff, I gave up on Stephen King about 15 years ago when everything involved the supernatural and the Boogie Man, and should have known better than to have gone back to him.

    For pure entertainment value though, it is a good read.

    @mcpapa

    This author grew up in Haldeman and went to Morehead. This story is set in that area too.

    You ever heard of him? I'm almost done and it's really good.

    Chris' dad was a sci-fi writer named Andrew Offutt. His quintessential work may have been a short story called "Population Implosion".

    Chris is a noted "southern fiction" writer. He was famous for calling Morehead State University "high school with ashtrays".

    My longest-tenured college roommate was from Haldeman. I would often go home with him and help he and his dad collect trash on the weekends. We would stop at a local bootlegger and get a 6-pack of beer. The three of us would each drink one on Friday evening on the route and another on Saturday morning.

    And we did indeed pick up the Offuts' trash. Small world.

    Everyone in Rowan and Carter County knew the bootlegger who resided at Hayes Crossing; just a skip and a jump from Haldeman. However, I won't name him here.

    I have to think that bootlegger was in the author's mind when writing this story.

    It was a fantastic read. 5 out of 5 stars from me.
