What Are You Reading In 2017?

Finishing up A Dance With Dragons. I'll start out the 2017 reading thread with a wonderful passage from this book.

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."

Annual post-Christmas Tolkien binge. Starting with Fellowship of the Ring but instead of going through the trilogy, I'm going to move on to Children of Hurin since I did The Silmarillion in 2016.

"Bad Sports: How Owners Are Ruining the Games We Love" by Dave Zirin

Read this one when it first came out. Giving it another one to resolve my currently conflicted feelings of a partially-publicly-funded soccer stadium here in Louisville.

Hoping I won't be confused after this. No public money for stadiums... not even Louisville City FC.

It was. I have a history degree and teach history and it was full of stuff I'd never read, studied, etc. European involvement is always just glossed over in the Civil War but it's a huge part.
