Under Armour posted this on their official facebook page earlier today

Under Armour has the utmost respect and admiration for the men and women on active duty and veterans who have served our country. As such, we deeply regret and apologize that a t-shirt that was not reflective of our values in honoring and supporting our country's heroes went on sale. We have taken immediate action to remove it from retail and will take great measures to ensure this does not happen again. Supporting those who serve our country has been part of our brand's DNA since the very beginning, and through our partnerships and by working directly with military organizations, it will always serve as the foundation of our efforts to give back.

FWIW the famous photo is kind of a staged photo. That was the second flag to got up, the first was taken down to be a souvenir for the Sec of the Navy I think and was replaced with the now famous and much larger flag. A man I used to work with was on the island when both went up and he used to talk all of the time about how that was the 2nd flag to be raised.

I think that meme makes it worse than it actually is...it would be completely different if Under Armor had put the word heroes or said something comparing the two. While being respectful of WWII soldiers I for one am not upset by the shirt...however if WWII veterans are upset then that's good enough for me...pull it.

I'm confused. That's a meme that was posted? Is the original t-shirt just the dudes putting up the goal?

I'm work Jumper, I'm not upset with the shirt. And I'm sorry, I'll even say that if some vets are upset at the shirt. As was mentioned, the shirt doesn't say anything about those raising the goal as heroes.

On this site we debate about how at times people get too upset over things. IMO, this is one of those times.

It seems silly to be upset about if they don't call them hero's on the shirt as said.

Under Armor has been military supportive from Day 1. This is stupid. IMO.

I'm sure that's probably true. But the fighting in the pacific was ugly. Actually, I think two or three of the men in that picture didn't make it home.

I support WWII veterans quite a bit, so whatever they say goes for me.

Creative idea that I probably wouldn't have went with though.

True, three of them were dead within a month.

This is a really dumb thing to get upset over. Like, extremely stupid.
