For starters, do you have any idea how many hours an average school administrator works in any given week? It's well over 40 when you look at PTA meetings, school board meetings, conferences with parents, meetings with state boards, etc.
Then you add in the beurocratic horse crap that they have to deal with, plus parents...yeesh. I mean, if you can imagine how much we hear people complain about individual coaches on here, can you imagine how much an administrator hears complaints about all the faculty and staff members they have? I mean, they even have bus service logistics to figure in.
I'd say the Kenton County School Superintendent sure as hell deserves $180,000 to deal with all of that crap. That's $10,000 per school she's in charge of.Advertisement
Mar 9, 17, 09:15 PM #17Barb Martin was an Excellent teacher, smart lady and would have been an outstanding Superintendent. Unfortunately Ludlow had to suffer thru the Curtis Hall years. Talk about painful.

Help me understand why teachers don't make that much or heck, even half for putting up with all that crap they put up with. Oh wait its the administrators that have to go to PTA meetings, school board meetings and occasionally parent conferences. Sure seems like a lot of meetings..

Now that's just training. They also have to worry about maintaining Safety Data Sheets at every location, inspections on Asbestos, and a variety of other things.
Also gotta worry about accidents, keeping claims down.
All this while maintaining a budgets in the millions.
And we haven't even talked about the true purpose of school districts. Educating the children. But that is darn near impossible with all the reports that have to be submitted to the state, making sure Teachers are caught up on credentials.
Then you can still throw in typical things like dealing with Public Relations, Discipline issues, and bureaucratic crap. All of this is probably only brushing the surface.
I don't know how many students or employees Kenton County Schools have but $180,000 is a steal for a CEO of that many buildings, employees, and students.

That's just one. Although most lawsuits are frivolous and get thrown out, they still are stressful. This goes with the job and the PAY. Almost every one is settled and personal suits are turned to the district. But if an employee dioes something, the Superintendent is always part of the suit.
So in Kenton County with 15+ thousand students, 1000's of employees, the chances of something daily is high. Believe me, 180K is a bargain.
This is just one of the things most have no idea and really have no reason to, but is there..

I've been a teacher for 21 years and never once have I begrudged an administrator making more money. The entirety of their responsibilities far outweighs mine.
