Yes, they will jack it up after a year. I only have 20mb internet service. I got it for $35 per month a few years back. I'm now paying $65 for it.

They are telling me the 200MB is the basic speed.

I only have internet. Have heard more complaints about their TV service than praise.
I'm guessing it's like the internet speeds - depends on where you are.
Haven't had a home phone in 11 years.

When we had cable service (twc) it was always no contract. Can't remember if it was prorated for that month when we left.

Are you sure it wasn't 20mb? I think they have 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 300, and 1gig. I was looking the other day at this as I may be upgrading soon. The guys at work say how great the 1gig is, but that's overkill for me.

The size depends on what you plan to do with it. My 20 works for me now as we don't do a ton of streaming, but as my kids are getting older, I know I'm going to have to upgrade.

As for TV, as mentioned above, I also don't hear as much positive as the Internet. I use DIRECTV as I have for the past 15 years. For a home phone, I use Ooma.

200 I see it on the quote. Told him I already had 50. They also offer 500 and 1 gig. Just finished the street a couple of weeks ago.

Got hooked up Thursday. They guy finished at about 4:30. I left the house at 4:35 to go to the lake. I arrive home today and a buddy had borrowed my trailer and left it in my driveway. I take it to my spot in the back of the yard. Well the cable has not been buried yet. Marked very well lying on top of the yard. Something catches the cord on my way back with the trailer. Rips the entire Fioptics box off of the outside of the house. Destroys it! No Fioptics!!!.
Luckily a buddy I know is a BSD at Fioptics and had just sent me a text this AM checking on it. Sent him a text after I did this. He is trying to get it fixed today!!
Good to know people. At the airport now, so still won't know what it is like until I return from my business trip. LOL

After yet another issue with Windstream within the same month, it looks like I will be switching over to Spectrum, likely this week as my current billing cycle with Windstream ends on the 3rd of August and they do not prorate. So if I don't make a decision by the third, I may as well stick with Windstream for another month, which I really don't want to do.

Went ahead and made the call, Spectrum said they can be here on the 3rd for installation, so I went ahead and scheduled it. I'll notify Windstream tomorrow that there is no point in coming out for their service call whenever that may be and to put a stop on our service at the end of the billing cycle which happens to be the 3rd.

The saga continues. Everything has been working fine at the house. I come home from the gym to see a cin bell truck near my box at the bottom of the street. Now all systems are down in the house. I go ask the guy how long it would be out. He tells me a coupe hours. Asked me my address and advises me Iím the one who called about an outage?..... Not me! He looks at the paper work and says it dated back to July 31 and showed a photo of an issue that was in the box where a plug was pulled out. So he unplugs it and that is why I have nothing right now. Another truck is delivering the part. They are pretty screwed up.

Sounds about like my experiences with Windstream. After several months of headaches I fired them.

It was back up in about 2 hours, but not sure why there was a work order and why its was working when it should not have been. Worse part is if it was a real work order is was sent in on the end of July. He said last guy he spoke to was without phone for 2 weeks. He didnít help their cause with that statement. Good thing I got a guy that has been taken care of me when it has been a real issue to me.

    And yet again!!
Get my bill and it is $10 higher than normal. After 20 minutes of chatting on line they told me a promo accidentally fell off. They are going to correct it. We shall see.

And jack it up the next year, and the next year, and the next year.........every year you have to play the "I'm dropping CinBell Fioptics" game with them and try to negotiate a price cheaper than what they are going to charge for the new "contract" year. And that's provided you get someone with a grasp of English you can understand.
