Got certified a few years ago for work. Someone in our branch had to be and dumb me agreed to do it. I told the guys I work with if they had a heart attack or something else that required CPR, they had better hold on until the EMts got there because I wasn't putting my mouth on any of them.

Just got recertified in dec due to coaching my daughters archery team.

About 15 years ago, my Mother choked on a piece of steak and I performed the Heimlich to the best of my ability.

I successfully made her aspirate the piece of meat. Once she got her wind back, she thanked me for saving her life.

Two days later, she went to the doctor due to pain in her midsection. Come to find out, everything internally was fine except she had two broken ribs. I think it was a case of too much adrenaline on my part.

I'm certified through work and I'm also a certified life guard. Thankfully I have never had to use it.

Done it once... Saved the guy. Felt like an out of body experience when it happened. Hope I never have to do it again though.

I was certified 30 years ago, or so, when I was in college and working as a lifeguard.

I have never had to use the Heimlich but I did have to perform CPR once, about 15 years ago or so..

I stopped by the convenience store and I heard a lady call my name from the corner of the parking lot. She was a friend and a client and she recognized me. Her mother was in congestive heart failure and was not breathing and we couldn't get a pulse. We got her on the ground and I performed CPR until the ambulance arrived. Unfortunately they were unable to revive her.

That was a really tough day and it caused me to self-doubt quite a bit.

At the time I was a volunteer firefighter in a small town where we were the first responders to almost all traffic accidents and other rescue type calls. So I was up to date and prepared. Even still, I spent a lot of time feeling like I should have done more.

It has been a long time and I feel like I need to take a refresher course now.

Certified myself but not had to use any of it. The proper way to do CPR has changed over the years. All you have to remember is "Staying Alive".

Nope but that's because I'm too slow. An eagle scout I had trained got to the guy first and performed the Heimlich to save the guy. Made me very proud. I have done emergency first aid but nothing where life threatening injuries were involved although one time was pretty scary. Thank God! Certified in all of them as it's required when we go on high adventure outings.

Had to do CPR on my son when he was a month old. Not a situation I wish on anyone.
