Best Mexican restaurant in Northern Kentucky area

I'll be traveling to Cincy this evening after to work, and will be spending the night near the airport. What are some of the best Mexican restaurants in that area. I love authentic Mexican, but my wife prefers the Tex-Mex. What are some suggestions for best Tex-Mex restaurant in that neck of the woods. Thanks.

The one at Crestview Mall Plaza can't remember the name. It is pretty nice though.

They're all the same? Surely there are two or 3 that stand out as the best?

Don't know how authentic it is but our group loves Rio Grande in Newport. Always crowded until later in the evening and you get a lot for the money. I will guess that there are several other very good places closer to the airport though.

Rio Grande in Newport is also by far my favorite. I'm not sure that I'd call it Tex-Mex though. More authentic Mexican. If you're looking for one closer to their airport, they have another in Florence, on Houston Road. Definitely good amount of food for the money. Pretty solid margs too!

I believe you might be referring to Abuelos. I've only been there once. If I remember right, its a pricier option.

There are tons. And yes, they are all on pretty equal footing. Nothing really outstanding, but all decent. As some one pointed, Rio Grande is pretty good and they've got 3 or 4 locations (Florence, Newport, Independence for sure). I also like Mi Tierra in Fort Wright, near Walmart. Rio Bravo in Alexandria is pretty good. Montoya's (in Ft Mitchell) is probably my favorite, although, again, not by much. None of these places do anything above and beyond what you'd expect to see in a typical Mexican Restaurant. Again, nothing special, but I've never had a bad experience in any of them.

Forgot about Abuelo's. Pretty good, but yes, they are pricier, and really not any better than the other places around.

Abeulos is very good, but as mentioned a bit pricey.

Rio Grande in Newport Shopping Center is far and away the best IMO.

A small "hole in the wall" joint is El Jinete in Taylor Mill. Very good food. It's in the Remke shopping center right off the Taylor Mill exit of 275.

La Mexicana on Monmouth in Newport is really good! It is small and shares space with a Hispanic grocer. Cancun on Buttermilk Pike is good. Unfortunately, for Tex-Mex, Chili's may be your best option ;-)

Most definitely not Tex Mex, forgot that aspect.

Used to be a place across from Dixie High School that started over in Mount Washington. Can't remember the name but they had good Tex Mex. Is it even still around?

Montoya's, Buttermilk Pike exit off I 75. A local community favorite for probably 20 years.

For the chain Tex Mex type of restaurant, Moe's is very good, located in the Crestview Hills Town Center.

    Good call on that one.
