I typically go scaled, but thought I could do this one RX. Just barely had enough time to get 185 on the clean up. I should have put more on bar for the clean, but was unsure how I would feel at that point in the workout.

I was not thrilled with my finish on 18.1 but to be honest I'm not sure I could improve much. I keep a solid pace on the row and moved through the T2B pretty quickly, breaking into 4's. My right shoulder is giving me issues so the C&J was rough on that side. Other than taking shorter breaks I just don't think I could make up much anywhere.

18.2 - I'm hoping to get a 2-3 shots at the clean. Would be happy getting 195 but like you I'm just not sure how my legs are going to feel.

Not sure. It is awfully painful getting to that point and really why exactly would I put myself through it again?

I will let you know how I do on Sunday.

If 195 is what you think you can do then I would probably suggest throwing on 2 1/2 pounds on each side (or even 1 pound weights on each side). It will at least separate you from everyone doing 195. The 185 I did is pretty common since it is a 45 and 25 on each side, so I wish I would have thought about it and gone just a little more.

I think I'm going to start the bar at 175 and go from there. I hope to get 3 lifts, jump to 185 then 195. We have change plates so I may have those on there and start at 176 or 177. Leave them on and go up 10lbs per lift. Again this will all depend on how quickly I can get through 18.2. My goal is 8 mins or less but that may be expecting too much.

Boooo I think my weight loss finally plateaued after 6 weeks. I only lost 0.2 lbs. this week after consistently losing 2 lbs. a week for the last month. I'm down 15.6 lbs. total.

Any suggestions for triggering weight loss again? To this point, I've only changed diet and cut out alcohol on every day except Saturday. I guess the obvious answer is to add exercise. Anything else I can do with diet? Thoughts? Thanks!

Without knowing your diet it's tough to answer. Are you tracking everything you eat? Some say they are eating better but when you actually track it you really aren't. When I say tracking I mean every single calorie and macro.

Then yes, if you aren't exercising then that would definitely be a good next step.

Way under estimated this one. I never could figure out a could method to hold the dumbbells and struggled with them the entire time. Didn't even get through it before time cap. I want to redo but don't want to waste my time if I can't figure out the squats. Might do it scaled so I can get a clean.

I didn't do it again. Too painful and too little upside for me.

I put the dumbbells flat against by shoulder/upper chest and just pinned them there with my hands, but I saw dumbbells in many different positions.

Good luck if you try it again today.

I tried just about all positions. I stood them up on my shoulders for during the first few rounds but couldn't really get them stable there. I could muscle through it because the reps would low. When I got to the round of 6 i start trying different methods but think I just made it worse. I wanted to get the handles on my shoulders where I could hold the front bells like a front squat but my shoulder mobility issues made getting them in the position a fight. I might do it again this evening but it will be scaled so I know I can get to the clean.

    18.3 Crossfit Open

    100 Double Unders
    20 Overhead Squats
    100 Double Unders
    12 Ring Muscle Ups
    100 Double Unders
    20 Dumbbell Cleans (alternating arms)
    100 Double Unders
    12 Bar Muscle Ups
    100 Double Unders

2 Rounds - time cap of 14 minutes

Scaled Version, which is what I did:

    100 Single Unders
    20 Overhead Squats
    100 Single Unders
    12 Pull ups
    100 Single Unders
    20 Dumbbell Cleans (alternating arms)
    100 Single Unders
    12 Pull ups
    100 Single Unders

I made it through the overhead squats on the second round. Lots of criticism towards Castro over this one. Honestly I didn't mind it. I was too slow working through the pull ups, but that is just because I am not very good.

I would be interested in watching someone complete this one as prescribed. Heard Noah Ohlsen got close this morning.

Looks like Noah got 921 reps out of 928. I would think you have to go unbroken on everything with very little rest between movements. 100 DU's unbroken will take around 1 min so 8 mins of the 14 are gone.

My issue will be the overhead squats at 115lbs. I can barely do Overhead squats so not sure I will be able to do 20 at that weight. If I do get through them then the ring MU's will get me. I can them but normally just singles and I'm not getting 12 in row. This is a good example of a work out that needs something in the middle between scaled and RX.

Just watching some of the better people at our gym (and we have very few competitive athletes), having the ring muscle ups as an early movement was a real killer.

I was amazed at how draining the double unders were to the two master athletes who competed on the announcement show last night. I figured for sure the muscle ups would be the element that challenged them, but it was the double unders for sure.

There's no doubt this is a DU workout for the elite guys. That many is so taxing on the shoulder and forearms making the MU's harder than they normally are. I'm really curious to see were our top athletes get. We have a lady that is a regional level athlete with a motor that doesn't stop. I'm really curious how she will do.
