2009 BGP NASCAR Contest Information

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CONTEST INFORMATION CAREFULLY:

The 2009 Sprint Cup revs off with the Daytona 500 beginning on Sunday, February 15.

Just like last year, the season will be broken up into two halves. The first 18 races will make up the first half (Daytona to Daytona - not counting the Sprint Cup All-Star Challenge) and the remaining 18 races will make up the second half.

BGP members can jump in and play at any time. We're giving prizes for each half's winner and an overall winner for adding each half, which is why members will be allowed to jump in and play at any time.

Also, the player with the highest single weekly score in each half will receive a prize as well.

How to Play:
Post your weekly top ten finishing picks by car numbers only, since this will help out in our new scoring system. Ex: 18, 40, 12, 20, 8, 21, 9, 24, 2, 6.

If they are not in this format, I will not accept them. Be careful to notice cars such as 02 and 09. And be sure to post ten drivers.

IF YOU ENTER THE SAME DRIVER TWICE, YOUR ENTRY IS VOID.

Scoring:
5 points for every driver you pick that finishes in the top ten, regardless of finishing order.

5 points for every driver you pick that correctly finishes in the spot you placed them.

10 bonus points for correctly picking the winner

5 bonus points for correctly picking seven drivers in the top ten


For example:
Your picks: 18, 40, 12, 20, 8, 22, 9, 24, 97, 17
How they finished: 18, 55, 45, 20, 8, 22, 17, 97, 24, 9

Top 10: #18, #20, #8, #22, #17, #97, #24, #9 (8 drivers = 40 points)
Exact Pick: #18, #8, #22 (3 drivers = 15 additional points)
Pick the winner: #18 (10 additional points)
Eight drivers in the top ten (5 additonal points)

Total for that week: (70 points)

Rules:
**You must have your picks in by Noon (ET), 11 (CT) on Sunday races and by 6 pm (ET), 5 pm (CT) on Saturday race days. NO EXCEPTIONS! I will not accept any posts after that time. This is the same as last year.

**You cannot ask another member to post your picks for you. You can send me your top ten picks in advance, if for some reason you know you will not be able to post them closer to the day of the race.

**If the week of the race is upon us and you don't see a thread for that race, feel free to start a thread and post your picks.

**If you are suspended from the site, you are not eligible to submit race entries until you are back in good standing.

** If there is a tie for most points in a race (week), the person who submitted their picks first will win the weekly prize from BGP

On February 15, the Daytona 500 will start at 2 p.m. Eastern on FOX.

Does each week get added together for a cumulative total?

One change I would make is the time limit.
If the race has not started why can't we still enter?

Not complining just asking.

Because the times that NASCAR list aren't set times. Because of TV, they are ballpark times. If NASCAR lists the start of the race at 2pm, but the flag doesn't drop until 2:12, what time should we go by? If someone makes a pick at 2:13, how do we go back and check the exact time the green flag dropped?

The times are set times for Saturdays and for Sundays so there is no confusion.

Same contest/rules for this season?

When do you post the race results from the previous week. Are there a set timeline you go by. When will the Lifelock 400 results be posted, and do you have a standings page available after each race to see who is in the lead each week.
