Bluegrasspreps.com 3rd Region Rankings 1/23/2018

By ApolloFan98 - The 3rd region is starting to become a 1 horse race. The Owensboro Red Devils have emerged now as the overwhelming favorite to rep the 3rd at Rupp Arena. Not only are they winning region games, they are blowing teams out. With the way they play, it would be hard to foresee them being upset in an elimination game. Its time to start looking at the Devils in the state polls. 1.Owensboro Red Devils (14-4) – SAME – The Devils continued to show their dominance inside the region with a 82-65 win at Daviess County on Saturday. The game was never in doubt. OHS was led by Cory Gardner's 27. ... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 6th Region Week in review (1/22/18)

By coachlee - Going to be a little shorter edition due to an out of town trip, but wanted to be sure to get a new Top Rankings out in the 6th region as we have a new #1 for the first time since early in the 2016/2017 season, the Doss Dragons. Doss outworked the Fern Creek team to flip rankings with the Tigers and claim the #1 spot with a 65-59 victory in the LIT semifinals on Saturday. But Butler is right there with them as they actually played eventual LIT champion to a very tight game losing on a last second shot by the Shamrocks. BluegrassPreps.com 10th Region Week in Review 1-22-18

By mcpapa - Last week's number one took care of number three, only to fall the next day. But last week's biggest news was Robertson County winning the regional All-A title as a heavy underdog; and becoming possibly the first sports team in recent memory (although they did have a really good debate team a while back) to advance to a "state tournament" of any kind. 1. Clark County (16-3, 7-1 region). The Cardinals are riding a six-game winning streak on the strength of home wins over Rowan County (78-42) and 12th-region powerhouse Pulaski County. Will Philpot led a quartet of Cardinals in double... Read More →

Bluegrass Preps.com 16th Region Review (1-22-18)

By 24Bricks - 16th Region Basketball Week in Review Winter weather once again disrupted play in the 16th Region, but the sun came out long enough this weekend to see Ashland collect it’s first in region loss, and finally get the All A underway. Outside of a Tomcat loss, everything else seemed to stay to course, in that there is no course. Consistency in shooting, defense, toughness, and turnovers or lack thereof, has been elusive for all but a few in the region. Which leads unpredictable results, close games, and at times some ummmm…not so pretty basketball. 1. Ashland (15-2) – The Tomcats... Read More →

BluegrassPreps.com 5th Region Weekly Rankings (1/21/18)

By Sportslover32 - 1. John Hardin (15-4): The Bruins played two district games this week and won the home contest and lost the road contest. They got upset at Elizabethtown 85-67, and beat North Hardin 71-52. John losing to a 5th region team could give other teams some confidence. Even with the loss, Mickey Pearson had 20 and 16. John plays Adair this week. They can still show that the Elizabethtown loss was just one game and not who they really are. 2. Elizabethtown (11-5): The Panthers played one game this week and what a performance it was. They beat region/district favorite John Hardin 85-67. This is the... Read More →

By theguru - By Bob Gardner, Executive Director of the National Federation of State High School Associations and Julian Tackett, Commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. They don’t normally make the headlines, their names are not in the box scores unless at the very bottom, and they don’t make the all-star teams, but perhaps the most essential individuals in high school sports are the contest officials. These individuals are so important that, in fact, there would be no organized competitive sports at the high school level without the men and women who officiate these contests... Read More →
