8th Region Week 7 Review - A Wild Finish to the Season is Shaping Up

By ColonelMike - 8th Region Week 7 Review – A Wild Finish is Shaping Up OK, we have 8-10 games left in the regular season, but this season quickly became the helter-skelter, topsy-turvey, coin-toss of a region I predicted in the Season Preview. I’m not bragging about my great prediction abilities – no, I think my three cats could have correctly predicted that it was going to take a long time for a true favorite to step up. Of course, that’s assuming we ever will reach that point, with a single favorite. Personally, I think we’ll be heading to New Castle with a wide-open tournament, and plenty... Read More →

1st Region Review Week 7

By silo11 - Things in Region 1 seem to be getting tighter and tighter at the top. McCracken has looked more vulnerable the past couple weeks winning two games by 2 points before finally falling to Graves County. It was a great win for Graves who had just lost to Mayfield. Mayfield needed that victory after falling to Paducah Tilghman in late December. It is a round robin of wins and losses and should make for a great run to the end of the season and into the Region 1 tournament: 1. McCracken County – Coach Burlin Brower BGP #11 2018-19 record: 12-2 Week’s Record: 1-1 The Mustangs lost... Read More →

By mcpapa - Week seven saw the region's top-ranked team put a bit of distance between itself and the rest of the pack, but their district won't be a cakewalk. The inaugural 2A tournament began in earnest, and the All-A starts up this week. Without further ado... 1. Campbell County (13-3, 5-0 region, 2-0 37th District). After a brief hiccup at the end of December, Coach Russell's squad has reeled off five wins in a row, and none have been very close. Last week saw the Camels tame the Cougars of Calvary Christian 95-39 behind 24 and 21 from Reid Jolly and Drew Wilson; with 14 players making it into... Read More →

The #1 spot is a no brainer and has been all season, but spots 2-11, Im not sure anyone knows whats going to happen next! Lets get to it! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Scott County (18-1) - The Cardinals continued their winning ways this past week going 3-0 against Madison Central, Sayre, and Ashland Blazer. 16th Region Week 7 Review: Parity Reigns Supreme

By Carson Palmer - The same old song and dance continues in the 16th Region. Elliott County was tested for the first time by a region opponent as Rowan County fought them to the final horn. It gives the rest of the region a possible blueprint for an upset once postseason play begins. The rest of the region continues to play competitive games that have resulted in some surprising results such as East Carter shocking Morgan County in Grayson. Should we just throw numbers 2-14 in a hat and pull them out? This week's matchups may provide some clarity to the rankings but don't hold your breath. We try to rate teams... Read More →

9th Region Week 7 Review: A return to #1 for one team and the All A begins.

By PP1 - Covington Catholic silenced some naysayers and confirmed the faith of some believers in their victory over Cooper in front of a sellout crowd on Friday Night. Beechwood nearly laid an egg in a huge district game against Holmes on Friday as well. The All Tournament kicks off Monday night at Beechwood High School for the play-in game between the Tigers and the Newport Wildcats. The subsequent rounds will be played at Newport Central Catholic. There is some confusion on khsaa.com regarding this tournament as it has St. Henry and Holy Cross playing in the first round on Saturday the 12th of... Read More →

2nd Region Week 7 Review

By silo11 - No big changes in this week’s rankings. Webster Count had a nice win over Caldwell County, but can’t seem to get enough consistency to move up in the rankings. University Heights Academy – Coach Grant Shouse BGP#5 2018-19 record: 15-3 Week’s Record: 1-1 University Heights put a hurting on their old rivals Christian County to the tune of 85-53. By ApolloFan98 - 1. Breckenridge County Tigers (14-2) SAME The Tigers continued to roll this week, running their winning streak to 10 games. On Tuesday, they rolled into Daviess County and took down the Panthers 79-63. Kobe Poole looked unstoppable at times, on his way to 36 points. Poole became the Tigers all-time leading scorer, moving past Breckenridge County legend Adam Mattingly. Mattingly, along with current head Coach Patrick Critchelow led Breck to a state championship and would go on to win a Division II national title at Kentucky Wesleyan. Congrats to Kobe! They followed that up with an 88-68... Read More →

By Smallhoops - Things are starting to get good in the Seventh Region. Three teams got back significant players from injury this week, with David Johnson’s return to the Trinity Shamrocks getting the most attention. Friday’s Trinity-Waggener and Male-St. X games showed what Seventh Region fans have to look forward to for the rest of this season. This week, that will include seven teams from the Seventh Region participating in the 72nd annual Louisville Invitational Tournament being played at Valley High School.
