1st Region Week 2 Review

By silo11 - Mayfield proved they deserved the No. 1 ranking for now, but they have to continue to play at a high level to do so as Tilghman, McCracken, Marshall, and Graves all are playing well and can make a run to the top. Meanwhile Community Christian and St. Mary are playing surprisingly well and have moved out of the bottom of the rankings. The big news is that Zion Harmon maybe close to playing for the Marshals, we will see, in the meantime here are the rankings for week 2. 1. Mayfield – Coach Chris Guhy BGP #9 2018-19 record: 1-2 Week’s Record: 1-2 Mayfield silenced any Region 1 critics... Read More →

2nd Region Week 2 Review

By silo11 - While things at the top of Region 2 haven’t changed a whole lot, there was quite a bit of activity in the middle and lower rankings of the region. Dawson Springs pulled off the biggest upset this week, and Caldwell County looks to have righted the ship. The number two and three teams will have a shot at staking their claim at the top position as they play UHA this week. 1. University Heights Academy – Coach Grant Shouse BGP#3 2018-19 record: 4-0 Week’s Record: 1-0 The Blazers didn’t have much competition this week. They defeated Todd County Central 110 – 66. Drew McGowan led UHA... Read More →

10th Region Week 2 Review

By One Great Scorer - 1. Campbell County Still at number 1, another solid week for the Camels beating Holy Cross (76-54) and top 9th Region competitor Newport (62-48). 3rd Region Week 2 Review

By ApolloFan98 - Last week kicked off with a battle between #1 and #2 in Breckenridge County and Owensboro Catholic. The game lived up to the hype, as both teams battled it out until the very end. I came away with the impression that this region may not be as down as previously thought. Tim Riley has the Aces looking like a version of his old Warren Central teams, early on. They pressure the ball non stop and play at a very high tempo that is fun to watch. Speaking of Warren Central, Owensboro played the Dragons very well. The Devils actually led them heading into the 4th quarter before giving away... Read More →

11th Region Week 2 Review

By mooremiller31 - Another crazy week in the 11th Region with some entertaining and interesting inter region match ups. The only thing certain about the 11th right now is their is a unanimous #1 and a pretty solid #2, after that I'm not sure you couldn't put #3 - #10 in a hat and draw them out anyway you want to. Once again a lot of moving and shaking in the middle of the pack. Team Rankings 1. Scott County (5-0) - Another week another set of big wins for the Cardinals. Both games were dominant performances with a 38 point win at LCA and a 42 point win over Frederick Douglass. Michael Moreno continues... Read More →

14th Region Week 2 Review: Overtime Thrillers

By All State Baseball - We’re already through the second week of the high school basketball season and it’s been hot start to the 14th region so far. It’s been everything we thought that it would be so far. Let’s take a look back at the past week and see who moved where. 1) Knott County Central (3-1): The Patriots remain the top dog in the 14th after going 2-1 last week in the WYMT classic. Knott County Central opened up with the Bobcats of Bell County. The Patriots would end up winning 79-69 and advancing to the semi-finals of the mountain classic. Clay county would get the best of the Patriots on their way... Read More →

Region 16 Week 2 Review: Lions Roaring

By Carson Palmer - The Elliott County continue to show why they were the consensus pick to win the 16th Region. The rest of the region continues to beat up on each other which makes for a very parity filled region that changes the rankings weekly. Let's take a look at our Week 2 ratings. 1. ELLIOTT COUNTY (5-0) The Lions notched two impressive wins over Greenup County and previously unbeaten Boyd County. Korbin Spencer and Tanner Dickerson continue to put up big numbers for the high octane Elliott offense. The Raceland Rams make a visit to Sandy Hook tonight in the Lions' only game this week. 2. ROWAN... Read More →

8th Region Week 2 Review: A New #1

By ColonelMike - Week 2 of the 2018-19 season is in the books, and there have been some interesting - some might even say, "surprising" - scores already. I prefer to say that they are "thought-provoking", because how this region is going to shake out this year continues to look like a mystery that won't be solved in December. Among the scores of note over the past week involving 8th region teams: North Oldham lost, 78-76 - but took #8 Ballard to the wire as the surprising Mustangs take a 4-2 record into week 3. Grant County and South Oldham played a nail-biter that South won, 80-75, after leading... Read More →

5th Region Week 2 Review

By Sportslover32 - 1. Larue County (4-0): The Hawks continued their winning way this week as they won three games to remain undefeated. They beat North Hardin at North 76-62, they beat district foe Hart County 74-47 at home, and beat Western in the 2A tourney 79-60. This team hasn’t disappointed so far, and they have looked like a region favorite should look like. Against Hart County, Anthony Adkins had 20 points and Mark Goode had 19 points. Larue’s big 4 of Adkins, Goode, Cox, and Davis is the best in the region. 2. Central Hardin (4-1): The Bruins got some good wins this week and they also suffered their... Read More →

9th Region Week 2 Review: Only one undefeated team left after a wacky week!!!!

By PP1 - Lots of exciting action this week in the 9th Region. Holmes and Highlands moved up a lot this week and we have a new #1 team. When looking at the region as a whole, we have only one undefeated team in Beechwood, six teams with only one win, and three teams yet to find a W. I know everyone has their own opinions on who is the best, so enjoy the rankings and analyze all you want. 1. Cooper (3-1): Despite the records and big wins, I’m not ready to move Beechwood or Highlands passed Cooper just yet. The #1 pick has been a hard one this week. A decisive victory against Conner and a narrow... Read More →

4th Region Week 2 Review: The Middle's A Mess But The Top Is Certain

By DragonFire - 1) Warren Central (2-0) - 12/4 81-68 W at Owensboro Previous Rank: 1 This Week: 12/10 at #3 Glasgow, 12/13 at #16 Franklin-Simpson Central played only one game this week thanks to Paducah pulling out of their game due to the ACT, but they stayed hot with an 81-68 victory at Owensboro, their second 80+ point effort of the year. Dre Boyd led the way with 19 points on 7/12 shooting, and a perfect 5-5 from the foul line to go with 13 rebounds. The win didn't come easy, as the Dragons trailed after the first and third quarters. A late surge was keyed by an Antonio Barbee basket coupled... Read More →

7th Region Review Week 2: Waggener beats Ballard; Central over Male; Trinity the best

By Smallhoops - The big news in the Seventh Region this week was Waggener’s 80-74 win over Ballard on Tuesday night, its first victory in 71 tries against the Bruins. Ballard Coach Chris Renner attended Waggener and had previously coached at Waggener, while Waggener Coach Bryan O’Neill attended Ballard and had both played for and coached with Coach Renner. It was a fun, competitive game between two well-coached teams. There was plenty of other action in the Seventh Region this week. Central beat Male 84-73 in a classic old school Seventh Region match-up Friday night. Trinity continued to show why it... Read More →
